Check the breaker. Check the reset on the motor. Wiring connections. If you have power to the motor & motor doesn't work...you need new motor.

Definately sounds like a leak in the pipes from the pressure side of the pump onwards, even the smallest leak will cause it to turn on to regain adequate pressure.

Are you able to check for power to the pump with a mult-meter. If you have power you the know the pump has siezed (flat spot on the motor) if there is no power then you know there are issues with the controls.
I hope this may have helped,

SOURCE: New grundig pump is now making a kind of clicking

I was ready to pass your question and go to the next person because you said it was making a clicking, and I could not relate or diagnose that type of sound for that kind of pump. Thank God I decided to read to the end where you said rattling sound. that is what you should have said in the beginning.
1st, did you replace the pump cartridge or the whole pump unit? 2nd, is the pump in a different oriented position than the original pump position? The inner cartridge floats inside the pump as it rotates and if it is in an oriented position that allows it to bounce (to & frow) it will make this rattle sound; not serious but can be annoying. It is was a replacement cartridge, perhaps the new gasket and the old gasket are in place, thus allowing too much space for the cartridge and it therfore moves too much and rattles. Or, if it was replaced as a whole new unit. there is a problem with it that you should not be responsible for, except for the positioning orientation. Finally, if there is still too much air in the system, the air bubbles will jossle the cartridge untill you get rid (bleed ou ) the remaining air. Goodluck<Macgivor

Grundfos water pump MQ3-45B. Will stop after frequent use. I have to turn it off and on to reset it. Control panel?

I would first check to see if any valves are partially closed, increasing the run time of your pump and causing over heating. Next I would check for any possible obstructions to water flow.

Grundfos pumps are designed to shut down when they are at risk of overheating and burning out which requires a manual reset. This can also be caused by insufficient water in the system, so you may want to bleed out any air that may be in it.

Hi guys I have 2 grundfos cri10 vertical pumps (just for water pressure) I changed the expansion vessel which blew and I have primed the vent plug but for some reason every time I power the pump up it goes...

indicates no water supply for the pump
check tap from the tank is turned on
if the vertical ? pump is a submersible (in well type ) check for water in the bore/well
If a jet pump make sure that the whole jet system is primed -not just the pump and again make sure that there is water in the well/bore

Grundfos MQ pump starts every 15 seconds

Pressure is bleeding back through the pump or system to the tank or well or where ever the water is coming from. Should be some sort of one way valve to keep water from going back to the source, mounted somewhere so that once pressure is pumped up, it will hold that pressure in the part of the system that has the pressure switch that controls the pump.

That or you have a leak where you can't see it. (Actually you do, it is just internal and not leaking outside the pipes!)

I have a Grundfos UP15-10 B5?TLC recurlating pump> Had to replace hot water heater. Had plenty of hot water. Turned Grundfos pump on and now have very little hot water . Could the pump have gone bad...

Pump can be bad or clogged with debris loosened when pipes were moved.
Check installation, and check if crossover valve is installed correctly
Check if single-handled faucets are good

I don't understand how to set the timer on my UP 15-10-B5/TLC Grundfos circulating pump. When it is not plugged in, we have a hard time getting hot water

Sounds like 2 problems:
1) Crossover and 2) Setting timer
Recirculation system has check valve that stops backflow of water when pump is turned off.
When check valve is clogged with sediment, or has worn out, then cold water enters hot pipe or hot water enters cold pipe when faucet is turned on.
Take apart connection where grundfos connects to both hot and cold pipes, and clean with white vinegar or CLR.

Your timer module may vary in appearance.
Slide switch selector might be located below timer dial.

My water heater needed to be restarted and my comfort recirculation system isn't working now.I"m hoping it is just the timer. I need to reset the timer and I don't know how. I can't find my manual....

Grundfos timer and pump operate by plugging into ordinary 120V outlet.

1) If outlet has power, then dial on timer should rotate.
If dial is not rotating, then check power to outlet.

2) If outlet has power, but timer is not rotating then timer has gone bad > if grundfos pump is working but timer is not working, you can buy cheap plug-in timer and use that as the timer.

3) If outlet has power and pump is not working, then manually rotate timer dial to see if pump will start.
If pump will not start, then you need a new grundfos.
There are no repair parts for these pumps, and nobody at Fixya has reported taking Grundfos apart and repairing it.
My Grundfos pump will not come apart.

4) Following link has links to Grundfos installation manual, website, product manuals, and contact.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html#Grundfos

5) To set timer: Grundfos timer dial has movable pins that are used to set on-off times.
When pins are pushed out, timer turns pump ON.

6) Rotate timer dial clockwise until current time lines up with arrowhead located on inner dial.
Dial rotates as time passes, and pins move a lever that turns pump on-off.

Pump started to make a rattling noise after 4 yes of perfect operation.

Pull off the pump and clean it out.
The noise could be sediment build up causing pump rotor to make noise.
Noise could also be bad bearing or bad rotor.
Noise could be air bubbles in the line.
Once pump motor begins to slow, no mater what the cause, it overheats and begins to burn out.
Many times, once a motor has slowed, it never recovers and spirals downhill and stops working.
There are no repair parts for recirculation pumps.

If there is a surge tank in the system this is not working.
Try raising the cut-out pressure. It sounds like the pump is reaching high pressure even when you are using water.

Grundfos is a sealed unit and not a repairable item.
The timer dial should turn.
And pins located around dial control ON-OFF functions as timer dial rotates.

Does the receptacle have power?
If receptacle has power, and Grundfos is not working, then it is broken.
Grundfos manuals for UP series pumps do not show breakdown or parts list of any kind.
http://www.us.grundfos.com/web/download.nsf/Pages

Bigger question:
Why don't you have hot water?
Is water heater functioning?
Water heater is a separate appliance from Grundfos pump.
Grundfos pump circulates hot water from tank into the lines so there is no waiting for hot water ... but hot water heater should still make hot water.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

Add a comment about water heater if that is also a problem.
You could have 2 problems, and water heater is main issue.
