French Door: Why Does The Control Panel Display "OF OF" Instead Of The Temperature?
If the control panel displays "OF OF" instead of the temperature, the refrigerator is in "Cooling Off" mode. In Cooling Off mode, the refrigerator appears to be running normally, but the compressor is off so the unit does not cool. Cooling Off mode is used by retailers to save energy when the refrigerator is on the showroom floor. Note: Cooling Off mode is also called Demo mode or Exhibition mode.
Disable Cooling Off mode by performing the following:
Left Door: Simultaneously press and hold the top two buttons on the left side of the display panel until you hear a distinctively different chime sound when the display changes. This will either be a combination of "Energy Saver" and "Freezer", or "Energy Saver" and "Power Freeze/Freezer."
There are alot of things that can cause no cooling...
a stuck tstat, will cause it to freeze up(electronic control)
a broken defrost timer will cause ice build up from no defrosting
out, or low on freon charge
inefficient compressor
door gaskets leaking
light switch not cutting off the light inside the cooling or freezing compartment
a bad fan motor(door) switch
I dont know how your unit works, but most only have one evaporator in entire unit..and its in the freezer compartment, and the cooling side gets it (coldnest) from the freezer compartment..with a door flap that alows cold air from the freezer to enter the cooler side.
Hope this helps..
Teresa, The fridge is in a retailers demo mode and here is what you do to reset it to normal operation: Left Door: Simultaneously press and hold the top two buttons on the left side of the display panel until you hear a distinctively different chime sound when the display changes. This will either be a combination of "Energy Saver" and "Freezer", or "Energy Saver" and "Power Freeze/Freezer."
At the top of the door frame: Simultaneously press and hold the "Power Freeze" and "Freezer" buttons until you hear a distinctively different chime sound and the temperatures for the fridge and freezer are both displayed.
Note: If the temperature is displayed, but then "OF OF" reappears a few seconds later, Cooling Off mode was not disabled. Repeat the actions above, and be sure to press and hold the buttons at the exact same time until the distinctive chime sound is heard and both temperatures are displayed.
Find a service mechanic you trust and get that door FIXED.
the ping pong ball is to allow the air pressure to equalize and the door to stay shut. Use only an approved door closer. Federal Law states that a walkin freezer door is to have an emergency escape means. That means what it says for a reason. So no one gets shut inside the freezer! After you fix the structure your problems will be a lot less. If you dont fix the structure then it will be a continual problem.
address other problems only after the "load" on the refrigeration equipment is taken care of.
the fan in the freezer is not working to blow the cold air in the freezer you need a new fan you need a repair man it will cost you $300 good luck i have the same problem don't buy samsung they are useless that why home depot don't sale samsung
Since your freezer control is the main thermostat , and your refrig control is only a damper , lower your freezer setting and turn the refrig control mid way . This will make the refrig run less , and keep the air flow moving , throughout the complete unit . When the airflow stops , by turning down the refrig control ( closing the damper ) , all the cold air will settle in the refrig section , thereby freezing everything in the lower section .
Since the water line runs thru the freezer door , too cold in the freezer section , will cause the water in the line to freeze . I would also suggest installing a dispensor heater ( pt. # WR49X10173 ) , which would hopefully avoid water line freeze , in the future . This part comes with installation instructions .
ok heres something i learned not to long ago about top shelf freezing if you put your more moistend foods up closer to top shelf it will freeze the top half of your freezer the moistend foods with liquid or waters needs to be closer to the bottom
this was WoW to me never knew that when someone mentioned it too me
they also state let freezer thaw down and place foods accordingly by moisture content in the freezer this will keep freezer running accuratly for a long time
try this see if this works for you im sure its this and not actually a problem problem give a 2 week test with freezer rearanged accordingly
its a defrost sensor that reads the inside temp of your freezer so it knows when to defrost itself.you need to close it so it wont allow th freezer to freez up.
