SOURCE: How do I change the oil in a Sears Craftsman MRS

Tip the mower up on it's side with the dip stick tube on the lower side and dump the oil out. Best to run the mower till its out of gas first.

SOURCE: Sears Craftsman lawn mower, 46

There is usually a sticker showing the drive belt route underneath the tractor right by the belts! If yours is missing I 'll try to take a pick of my tractors belt and upload it!

SOURCE: craftsman lawn tractor automatic transmission

Just like motor vehicles when transmission gets stuck on a particular place without moving forward or backward it is a sign of a jam in one of the transmission levers. This is usually caused by lack of transmission fluid in the gears. When the fluid or grease depending on what your unit uses gets low the levers begin to grind against one another and therefore bring about such problems as you are facing. Although there is an off chance that the problem could also be from the automatic selector in this case the damage might not be so much probably an electrical fault.
First get an expert to check the auto selector if it is in good shape. If it is then i am afraid the problem is from the transmission levers.
Hope this insight has been helpful?

SOURCE: Blades on my Sears Craftsman

It might be that a drive belt is too small and doesn't release. It would be where the power goes from the engine to the deck.May have to get bigger belt.

Model dgs6500. Why does it cut off when I push reverse pedal?

is it cutting out in reverse when the cutters are engaged??
some will do this as its a safety device, more modern machines have a over ride, be it on the ignition swith or a button or even a pedal

Transmission will not engage.

The transmission belt is probably loose or the clutch is faulty.

Lawnmower wont move in fwd or reverse

Is the brake sticking. On my craftsman mower there is a bar under the brake pedal that pushes back a lever when starting. And the lever sticks. I have to reach underneath and pull the lever forward and then the mower goes. I haven't found a solution to that yet.

Both forward and reverse speed are decreasing

Hi, check the main drive belt, the belt is stretched out. you need too replace the main drive belt.

If this doesn’t work for you, please write back. Thanks,

Will not go into gear

a hydro uses a foot pedal on the right side , you push forward to go forward or rock the pedal rearward to go in reverse - a regular transmission has a shifter usually between your legs for reverse 1st 2nd or 3rd gear - you also said the blades wont engage . are they electric ( with a switch ) or do you manually move a lever .
