SOURCE: Hot tub won't stay at set temperature

I have a 2002 Infinity 6 man spa that I just got from a friend. I am also an Electrician. I had to replace the Spa pack because it wasn't working. Once I replaced the Spa Pack and used the tub it got up to temp no problem but once I got in the temperature slowly dropped and it couldn't keep up. After some research and discussion with a pool tech I found out that there is a jumper on some spa packs. It is a LC (low current) / HC (high current) jumper. It limits the current (amperage) that your tub draws. If you are running it on the LC setting it keeps the tub at low current by not running the heater when the jets are on. (this way it keeps the current low by running one only at a time) If you set it for HC it will allow high current to be drawn and let the heater and the jets be on at the same time. On my spa pack it is P26 Jumper. I have found it is also listed as Jumper 4 on some spa packs. the jumpers are located in the lower right of the circuit board. Make sure you shut off the power to the tub and know what you're doing before you attempt changes. you can also google "Gecko Spa Pack Service Manual" and you will find the manual for your tubs spa pack. Good luck.

SOURCE: I have a new Jacuzzi

The bath heater you have is not designed to HEAT water - they only Maintain what you start with.
You need to start the bathtub with the hot water you want. It will only heat about 1-2 degrees an hour.

I have just replaced my circuit board (balboa 53247) for my eclipse hot tub and as soon as I plugged the unit in, I got an OH reading from the top-side control. Then I noticed that if I pulled the temp....

Unfortunately, I would have started with the sensors and then escalated from there. A hot tub is one of those items that I generally recommend hiring a technician to sort out, it's just flat not worth the headache of troubleshooting without the know-how.

As for your particular problem, the OH code on a Balboa control pack is "O.ver H.eating" it means that the heat sensor detected high temp and shut down to prevent damage to the system (as well as cooking you like a pink lobster) The sensor could be bad or the control board could be malfunctioning. A new sensor is $75-85 if memory serves me and is relatively easy to replace. one sensor is in the heating tube and the other is screwed into the tub shell to monitor tub temp. I would suggest new sensors, both of them because when one goes out the other usually isn't far behind. Make sure you shut the power to the tub off at the breaker box before doing any kind of tub repair. If you have shutoff valves on your tub you can replace the internal one without draining the tub. the one in the shell you need to drain to replace (at least to the sensor hole level) I hope this helps you to get your tub working properly again, if you still experience issues after this, I suggest biting the bullet and calling in a tech. Thanks for your question =)

My hottub want raise the temp above 89 on the control panel it says sl 89 i know it has three modes sleep mode econo and standard but how do i change the modes? the tub is a nordi sport

Some hot tub keypads have a 'mode' button. If yours doesn't try pressing 'warm/temp' followed by 'Jets'..... it's usually a combination of keys that changes the mode and this one springs to mind but I could be wrong.

Good luck,

Moen single handle valve tub/shower

The Moen Posi-Temp Valve is a pressure balanced valve and when not used for long periods of time they can stick causing only cold or hot water to pass through the valve.
A New Posi-temp cartridges can be purchased at most plumbing supply houses or big box outlets such as Lowes or Home Depot.
As long as you had cold water before, a new cartridge will solve the problem. In the future it would be wise to occassionally operate the valve at least a couple of times a month in order to keep the pressure assembly from becoming lodged in position. Just follow the instructions included with the new cartridge on the proper removal of the old cartridge and the installation of the new cartridge. a little silicone grease inside of the valve before installing the new cartridge will also help.
Be sure that there is no particles of the old cartridge left in the valve.
