Call Hamilton Beach. This crock pot was recalled because of threat of severe burn. My handle broke and I dropped my lid. When I called to buy a new lid, I was told of the recall. They will send you an envelope. You then send back the end of the cord. I got a whole new cooker, crock and lid in the mail. : )

How do you clean the burnt on food inside the base of a crock pot with a removable crock?

I have the exact same problem! I cooked soup that slowly boiled over the edge and burned inside the base. I know you can't soak it and I don't want to ruin it. Help!

I was given a model CE23221FD RC5 slow cooker and it has no instructions on how to cool anything but rice. I'm a diabetic and the last thing I want to cook is rice. How can i find out how to cook chicken...

Ask whoever gave it to you if the manual is available. Since it wasn't new to you, your comments about it being sold without instructions are not valid. Perhaps it is only a rice cooker and not meant for anything else.

Cooking PLAIN rice

Here is my recipe - enjoy and please rate my answer as a fixya!

Raw Rice - 2 Cups (400 gms.)

Water - 6 Cups.

(The ratio of rice to water is 1:3)

PROCEDURE

Step 1:First wash the rice in water thoroughly and drain the water.

Step 2:Take a vessel ,the capacity of which is double the quantity of raw rice that is to be taken.

Step 3:Now,add the washed rice into this vessel and pour 6 cups of water into it .

Step 4:Now, place this vessel containing rice with water in a pressure cooker and add the pressure weight on the cooker top.

Step 5:Heat the pressure cooker for 20 minutes only.

Rice has been cooked.

NOTE:
*After heating the cooker for 20 minutes, donot open the cooker immediately.Wait for 15 minutes and then open ,otherwise the cooker would burst open.

Extra metal piece in base

I have a west bend crockery cooker, model 84316. It was given as a gift. My wife has tried to use it 3 times and each time the outside becomes to hot to touch, while the contents of the removable crock gets only luke warm. I also noticed the bottom of the cooker has turned brown from excess heat, looks like a possible fire hazzard. Does anyone have this problem, is there a recall on this product.
