SOURCE: i have a minn kota deckhand 35 that wont wind up.
Solution- Take the cover off the Deckhand 35 by Minn Kota. Inside is a motor drive. Remove the cover plate held in place with 4 screws. inside are nylon gears, most likely broken. The gears can be replaced with a Minn-Kota Deckhand Gear Repair Kit.
I found mine on the web at Northland Marine.com it's about $24.00 for the kit, plus shipping.

There is a great chance the clutch has frozen due to corrosion.It need to be pulled apart at the clutch.Its not a big job and quiet easy.The plates freeze together and need to be "cracked" apart.I hope this helps
