SOURCE: bosch frost free fridge freezer not freezing ice cream/pops at all and meat not totally frozen

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.

  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/board
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should probably replace the machine.

SOURCE: Refrigerator freezing up and fan catching

From your information Bill it seems the defrost system has failed. There are several componants that could cause this. First check the defrost heater which is located on the evaporator. You will need to pull the plug and let the ice melt completely first. Store your perishables elsewhere.

With an ohmmeter, check for continuity across the defrost heater. With all due respect, if this is confusing you need to call a service tech. If you have continuity across the heater, check the defrost thermostat which is a round disc fastened to the evaporator.

Finally, look for the defrost relay. It should be found somewhere on the lower rear of the refrigerator. Check for power to the relay, and on the outlet side. A wiring diagram located on the back of the unit will help you find the correct wires. All of these parts should be available from your local refrigerator parts supply, or check with Samsung online to order. Be advised Bill that this is not a simple repair, but if you have some electrical understanding, you can do it.

SOURCE: freezer is making frost, fridge side doesn;t seem

The problem is most likely either the defrost timer, and/or the defrost heater element(s) are faulty. The problem is actually that the defrost heater elements are not functioning properly and the evaporator core is actually freezing up and blocking the air flow through the evaporator core and also freezing up the thermal sensor, and when that happens there is no longer enough cold air being circulated through the refrigerator (that is actually how the unit operates and air must be able to flow through the evaporator core and then be circulated throughout the refrigerator to properly function) and as a result the refrigerator stops functioning and food can even thaw out in the freezer although the freezer seems to be iced up. (Usually at the rear wall where the evaporator core is located)

(Air flow through the evaporator core and cold air circulation and re-circulation through the refrigerator is performed by the air circulation fan and it also must be functioning)

Be sure to only use a blow dryer (with a towel on the bottom of the freezer) to thaw out the evaporator core and do not use any hard or sharp objects or the evaporator core can be damaged. The defrost timer can be located inside of the refrigerator itself, (see lower image) or it can be mounted outside usually either behind the air intake cowl or kick panel at the front base of the refrigerator, or most likely located behind the service panel on the rear of the refrigerator, and usually if the defrost timer is turning then it is most likely working, however the defrost timer can move very slowly and you can place a mark on the timer and the housing to check after about fifteen minutes to see if the position on the defrost timer has changed. The deforst timer on newer digital models can be built into the circuit board and is not a seperate timer mechanism. The defrost heater coils can easily be checked by dis-connecting them and using an ohm meter, and a high or an infinite reading would indicate a faulty heater coil, however most of the time they are easily identified as being bad just by looking at them.

Here are some images that should be similar to your situation to help assist you, and let me know if you require any further assistance.

Why would I be getting water build up to ice below the meat tray?

The unit self defrosts and this creates water. There is a drain tube that is supposed to let the water go to the bottom of the outside underneath. If that tube is plugged or damaged the water runs down the inside and creates ice.

How do I get the flex zone drawer down to 29 degrees?

Your question is a bit ambiguous. If you are using a thermometer be sure it is correct. If you are talking setting the temperature it is explained on page 25 of the manual it gives these instructions:
• Press the Temp button repeatedly until your desired mode is lit.
• Each time you press the Temp button, you change the mode in this order: Meat/ Fish mode (29°F(-1°C)), Cold Drinks mode (33°F(1°C)), Deli/Snack mode (37°F(3°C)), Wine/Party Dishes mode (42°F(5°C)). Initially, the Cold Drinks mode is selected. The refrigerator will adjust the temperature in the Flex Zone automatically to the temperature you selected.
• The Flex Zone Temp. Display may change depending on the number of items inside, where they are located, the ambient temperature, and how often the door is openend.

I hope that helps.

Samusung RFG297HDRS Ice maker not cold enough to produce ice.

Suspect that the rubber boot that runs all around the edge of your freezer door is deformed, allowing warm air to seep into your freezer. You will see where your temp sensor is located by clicking into the site of a parts supplier like ShopJimmy.com and pulling up their photo of the guts of your unit.

Frigidaire French door model 28 cubic ft - deli drawer freezes cold cuts and cheeses. Model FGHN2866PF1

Hello friend, thanks for your inquiry!

I understand that you have a Frigidaire refrigerator, FGHN2866PF1, and your deli drawer is freezing items. You may want to turn down the temperature within your deli drawer, when adjusting the temperature could take 24 hours for your refrigerator to stabilize. If that does not resolve your issue I would suggest removing the drawer and checking over to make sure there are no cracks where too much air may be coming in. If there is too much weight in the deli drawer that could cause the drawer to sag, which may release cold air into the deli drawer. I hope this information has been helpfu. -Matt

What causes food to freeze in the bottom of the refrigerator & meat & cheese tray

See if there is a temperature setting on the side of the drawer. Mine has a small lever that opens a hole to the freezer to keep that drawer colder. If it's opened too far the food will freeze.

The meat storage drawer no longer cools properly.

Defrost it then and make sure there is enough room for air to circulate. Sometimes ice build up can keep the fans from turning.
