Need model number from blower casing not coil casing but typically fan speed can be adjusted from control board mounted on blower motor housing.

SOURCE: I have a RUUD furnace

Hello, a blower motor and blower wheel will cost about 120.00 dollars on average. If you can replace it yourself than you can save alot of money, however, if you go with a hvac company they will really charge you for labor you might be looking in the 300.00 - 350.00 range. Usually blower motor's don't fall off unless the mounting bracket bolts come loose, sometimes this can be due to vibration over long periods of time. So usually they dont fall off but it does happen every now and then. Let me know if you have any further questions I will be glad to assist you.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the input. The sudden extreme freezing temperatures in TX may have contracted the bolts and the overusage may have loosened everything."

SOURCE: We want to change speed on air handler for unit

Hi, It depends on the make and model of the blower motor. You'll need to check this against the schematic (normally located within the electrical cavity) and work it from there. Some are two speed, some three. You can also look at the wires coming from the motor and check those that are taped off. There may be another wire, but check your schematic before changing any of the motor leads to the control board.

Ruud achiever 10 inside blower motor burning

Check fan cage to make sure it turns freely. Check voltage to IFM make sure it is correct for the application. Make sure the motor turns the fan cage in the correct direction. IFM will have high and low speed make sure when you change from fan on to auto that the motor changes speed. If you have an amp draw meter check to see when running the motor pulls the amp load it is rated for. Recheck all wiring.

The blower speed can be changed somewhat the same way , but it will have to be rewired using one of the extra capped wires for a lower speed. That is if the other wires were not clipped and just capped

Ruud achiever 10 seer air conditioner has weak airflow, I changed the filter and one of the coils on inside unit is frozen

Turn the unit off and give it time to thaw. A hair dryer can speed this process along. How did the filter look? When the coil has thawed check to see if it is dirty. Also make sure your indoor fan is running and all the covers are on the air handler. A weak capacitor will make the fan run slow. Let me know what you find.

Water pouring out of unit (air handler) and I cant get inside of unit, how do you get the covers off. model #RCHA 48A1GH121

Some have screws the hold the covers on others like mine just have some clips that hold them on. If you don't see any screws then you probably have clips and just need to pull at the top of which ever cover you are trying to remove. Your problem sounds like a clogged drain line. Let me know what you find.

Ruud AC fan won't shut off

In many mobile homes this scenario is very common, less so in permanent homes, but here is how it works; The heat side of your fan which is the low fan speed is not dependant on the thermostat it's heat activated. Your already aware of this to some degree because you had the limit \fan switch replaced. I've taken that approach to that unit myself. In reality what probably is happening is on hot days your unit is warming up by being hit by sunshine and then it clicks the fan on at 140 degrees. This especially happens if the unit is on the roof or a split system in the attic. Remedies; run your A\C to cool it down, keep your attic cooler by way of an attic exhaust fan(which saves you cash anyway). Or if your not regularly using A\C turn breaker off til you need it. In the end there may be something going on, but odds are I'm dead on. Good Luck

Please help!!!!!!!!!

sounds like you either have a severe wiring issue or if it is a heat pump there may be a problem involving the reversing valve. I recemmond you have your hvac man look at it.

Ruud heat pump outside fan

You may be right in looking at the motor. It uses a different speed on heat than cool. The heat cycle uses low speed, usually red. Some manufactures use blue (medium). Cool uses black, high speed. If you are confident, switch the low speed wire with the high speed and see if this changes anything. If the fan motor isn't the problem, check the other setting (cool) if the overload trips, you may need to look into a new capacitor or compressor, if so, you can install a hard start kit. these are start boosters, and are inexpensice, sometimes they will give another year out of the comp. but I've put them on and they have lasted 5 years.
