Question about Casio Music
G above middle C frequently (about half of the time) plays with a strange tone. It sounds as if the hammer has been compacted or if a tack were place on the hammer before striking the strings. Of course, there is no hammer and no strings, so... Usually more of a problem when playing the key louder. Tried a factory reset, but no help. Only the one note, too, but I like playing in G and C and D and Eb, etc.
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: EWI4000s only plays one note
You can try to reset your instrument.
Turn off the EWI,
Press the LEVEL, FX, SETUP and TRANS buttons.
Then turn on the EWI.
This is a Factory reset.
I hope for You this is the solution.

You are suffering from midi latency. There is a good article about this at www.thewhippinpost.co.uk/latency.htm There is also some good advice there.

You either did not get the ribbon cable seated OR got it upside down.
If this cable is the flat ribbon with exposed solder plated points of contact, OFTEN those connectors have a latch to release by GENTLY moving tabs on eaither side in the direction of pulling the cable out. This lock MUST be moved out slightly to allow the cable to seat properly. The solder plated contacts will be FULLY into the connector when seated properly.
These cables ALSO can be inserted backwards and NO connection will be made.

I had a similar thing happen.
Definitely change the internal battery and initialize back to factory settings. Just hold down the red initialize button (top right hand corner) while you turn it on. It will then ask on the LCD - hit "yes".
I also had to change the battery in my external cartridge (if you have one).
There are some great (free & pay for) sound patches on the web for the CZ1 (way better than the presets) you can load them in via midi sysex.
