SOURCE: icemaker is not freezing ice, freezer not freezing food,

The ice maker won't work if the freezer is warmer than 17 degrees so that's not an issue till you get the freezer cold again. I would guess that your unit is stuck in the defrost cycle. This could be the defrost timer failing. See if you can find the defrost timer in your unit and advance it by hand if possible. http://www.partselect.com/PartSearchResults.aspx?modelnum=jcd2295hes&mfgmodelnum=&fkmfgid=1&hint=defrost

SOURCE: icemaker not making ice

First thing to check is to see if the optics are working properly. This is the red flashing light on right hand side of freezer wall. Close the flipper door, be sure not to block the beam, and the light should go to solid red. If it does then the optics are ok. If it continues to blink then that is your problem. If optics check ok then pull ice maker out and remove the white plastic cover. It just pulls off. Look at the center of the gear wheel and see if one of the plastic tabs is either broken or if they are sort of twisted and touching eachother. If any of these things with the gear have happened then that module will need to be replaced along with the ice maker thermostat. If your not sure how to replace these parts then just replace the whole ice maker. That is much easier and not much more costly.
After changing the parts or the ice maker out follow these steps to start the ice maker thru a cycle. 1. Remove the ice maker from the cradle but leave the harness connected. Remove the front cover from the module. Unplug the refrigerator. Get a small jumper wire with bare ends and jump T and H on the module, leave the jumper in and set the ice maker on the shelf. Close the door. Now plug the refer back in and wait 30 seconds. Open the door and the ice-maker should be cycling. Remove the jumper, put the module cover back on and set it back in the cradle. The fill should take place when the ejector blades reach the 12:00 position. Follow these steps exactly in order

SOURCE: GE model TFX22R ice maker problem

First clean out the condensor coils. If you have pets it should be done at least 3 times a year. The other possible problem is if the gasket in either the fridge or freezer is worn out or has a gap it will not cool properly. Check that the fan underneath the unit by the condensor coils is running when the compressor is . Some smaller refrigerators have only condensor coils on the back and no fan. These units should have room for air flow on top and sides not built in flush with cabinets. Buy a thermometer for both the fridge and freezer compartments. You run the risk of food poisoning if the fridge temp can not be kept below 40 degrees. Freezer temp should be able to keep at least 0 - 5 degrees. (Ice cream is a very good indication of proper temp. It is the first thing that melts. Ice maker is a close 2nd.)

If these things don't work call for repair. Don't risk losing all your food!

SOURCE: No ice from icemaker of Kenmore Elite model 106

I just resolved an issue with my kenmore elite side by side refrigerator icemaker (model 106).
It was expensive because I took the long road to fixing the unit myself.

My problem: No water going up to the freezer water dispenser into the icemaker but the water in front of the door working just fine.

-first thing i tried was the simplest. The Internet is clogged with this miracle fix of using a hair dryer to melt the frozen water line going to the dispenser output. This is highly unlikely for our model since the water line is protected within the refrigerator frame.

-2nd thing I replaced my water filter (thinking that there wasn't enough water pressure to trigger the solenoid valve. $40, and still no luck.

-3rd thing was I tested for voltage going to the solenoid. No voltage going to solenoid, so I wasted $30 for a new solenoid.....still no water.

-4th thing was I ordered a new IR sensor and receiver (since the reciever end is where the relay that sends the voltage to the solenoid to turn on and allow water to go up to the dispenser).
My IR sender and receiver appeared to be working flakey.
Installed, still no water. $58 BUCKS ON EBAY (EVERYWHERE ELSE $100+)

-I finally removed the freezer front little white door, I TURNED OFF THE FREEZER SWITCH SO NO VOLTAGE WAS PRESENT, removed the release latch underneath the freezer unit and disconnected, and removed the freezer unit to inspect it further.
When I removed the protective white cover that covers the mechanical wheel, I had a few parts come flying out of it. Turns out that the wheel accessories were damaged. THERE ARE NO REPAIRABLE PARTS ON THE FREEZER UNIT. I FOUND ONE ON EBAY FOR $39 BUCKS + $9 SHIPPING! $48 BUCKS, SWAPPED THE HARNESS AND BOTTOM COVER, AND IN 20 MINUTES, I WAS BACK IN BUSINESS. STARTED MAKING ICE IN ABOUT A HALF HOUR!!!!!

when in doubt, replace the freezer unit for $48 bucks! 7 out of 10 times it will fix your problems. All techs replace the IR set at the same time too which will set you back another $58 bucks.
Good luck! ;)

I have a GE Adora side-by-side refrigerator Model # DSD26DHWA-BG. About 1 year ago the ice maker stopped producing ice. The mold that forms the ice cubes is filling up with water but never pushes out...

Hello, there are three screws that hold the icemaker in place if you remove these three screws and unplug the icemaker and remove it from the unit. After you take the icemaker out take the entire unit with the cover on it and run it under hot hot water this is actually quiet common for an icemaker to freeze up well actually its the parts on the inside of the icemaker that are freezeing up. After you defrost the icemaker as I term it then you would dry the icemaker and reinstall it. when the icemaker reaches 32 degrees the icemaker will call for water once again from the water valve if at this time after the ice forms the unit still doesnt drop the icecubes then you would have no other alternative then to buy another icemaker they usually sell for around 50-90 dollars american. The icemaker is not worth replacing parts on due to if you were to replace parts on the icemaker you would end up spending about 4 times as much as the entire icemaker costs. If you have any further questions message me back and please remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future. Thanks again Rick

GE Side by side Refridgerator (Artica) model PSC25MSTA. Freezer and refer side not cold. Noticed coil under ice maker hot. Did a test on ice maker per GE web site instructions, Tested OK. Noticed cold...

No,what it appears to be isthe evaporator is freezing over and hindering air flow. The water under the ice maker is actually condensation because the ice maker is colder than the cabinet temp. The unit should have an automatic defrost so it appears it is cycleling through yhe defrost. Unless you call out a tech to set the defrost timer, all you can do is unplug it and defrost in its own. Was the door ajar for any period of time? not completely closed? That will also do it because of humidity. The moisture in the air will freeze. The refrigerator side cools from bleed over from the freezer.

I have a hotpoint refrigerator with model number: HSS25GFTA BB. It's 3 years old, about 1 year ago the freezer seems to slightly melt and refreeze and keep cycling the same thing. To cause ice to build up...

You have a defrost problem. No biggie. Check your heaters first, then your t-stat and timer. After a year, you may need to repalce all three parts as after time, the ice takes out other parts if they are not changed right away. You will need to make sure the unit is completely thawed out before replacing parts for optimum use. Call or email us for the part that you need and we'll be sure to get them to you right away! Hope this solves all your problems.

sounds like the defrost thermostat or you may have a crack in the water line causing the freezing.

Icemaker Locks/Freezes up

Paul, There has been an issue with these models concerning this freezing up in the freezer side. I was on a service call yesterday, same model. GE sent a letter out to this customer along with two new door kits, really they were complete doors that I had to install. If I were you I would call GE's 800 number and inquire about this problem. Your refrigerator might be covered. Hope this helps. Catriver...post back.
