The screen has lines on it? This can be fixed by replacing the screen, I don't know if parts are available, I think your best shot is to find another organizer with the same screen and replace the screen or use the other one.

I think you should contact sharp for the replacement il look up the contact details.

you organizer should have cam with a cradle to set it on. that will connect to your computer either serial2 or usb. did yours not come with one of these?

The electrolytic capacitors are probably not doing their job.
Seriously, how old is this device?
Recapping would be time consuming or expensive.
The reason it shuts of when you hit the enter key is that there is not enough energy in the caps to supply the peak current needed for the operation.

You would need the Docking Module and the attached COM1 cable/plug.
