SOURCE: PS3 Controller will only work when plugged into the USB

i had same problem turn off your system with controller plugged in to usb unplug controller remove the power cable for a couple of mins reconnect and use controller PS button to turn system on and it should be back to normal. it worked for me

Play station controller....is the 4 red light suppose to keep flashing

It's flashing for one of two reasons. It is either about to die because the batteries need to be charged. Or it is hooked up and charging. Those are the only two reasons I can think of for them to flash. Possibly not connecting, but you would have probably said that if it was the case.
