SOURCE: MAYTAG PYE2300AYW ELECTRIC DRYER - HEATER SHUTS OFF PREMATURELY

First off, how are you looking to check this situation. Either way, it would be normal for this to happen. When you are looking at the elements heating, you more than likely have the door open to see them. The heater will do what they call "short cycling" because the airflow has outside source air getting into the heat stream. The door and lid almost always has to be shut for this system to work correctly. You can sometimes crack the top just enough to see the element heat. Usually, if the element is coming on at all, then the system should be fine. If you have a dryer thats not drying your clothes completely, its more than likely you have a ventilation issue (i.e vent tube restriction, grass growing in the end of the vent, etc). Also remember these Maytags have two thermostats on them most of the time. One directly over the top of the element, and one in the fan housing at the front of the unit. Try those, if there isnt a change, write me back and will look from there. Good Luck!!!!

SOURCE: dryer tries to start - then stops and beeps PLEASE HELP

Check the exhaust hose. If the dryer isn't venting properly it will either stop or the heater will turn off and the clothes will remain wet. If the hose is not clogged check the wall vent tube.

SOURCE: have a Frigidaire Gallery Series

Sorry to read about your problem. this should be your E68 problem

You have a defective button on the control board.
The best thing to do is go into the diagnostic mode.
Turn the dial to Normal. Press and hold the Select and Pause/Cancel keys for 6 seconds, or until the Drying/Cool Down/Press Saver/Clean Lint Filter lights come on.
Then press the Start and Pause/Cancel Buttons 4 seconds. This puts you into the diagnostic mode to check the keys. Now, turn the dial 4 O'clock position, or 75. This will allow you to check all your buttons. As you press each key, it will light all the lights above it. When you press a key and it does nothing or the lights above any certain key stays on without pushing it, this button is stuck. If you can't clear it, you probably have to replace the control board.

I tried to help you. Please help me and Vote/Rate this response. Thanks and good luck

How good are you with a screwdriver and a multimeter Sarah?

This says it has overheated and gone into protective state, but you say it is blowing cold?

Check all the thermal fuses, there are normally 3, and check for continuity in the heater element.

My Electrolux EDV 605clothes dryer is turning but not heating, heating element is ok possible faulty thermistor, dryer heats up when thermistor is unplugged but has an error code of 5 beeps

I think you're absolutely right exhaust sensor is faulty.

The buzzer will give 5 beeps, all program LEDs will flash for 5 seconds and the dryer will continue with the cycle. The warning beeps and flashing LEDs will occur every 30 seconds.
On Timer Drying programs it will run for the time remaining and in Sensor Drying programs it will run for 90 minutes. As the exhaust air temperature can not be sensed the element will be cycled on and off at a preset amount. The cycling time of the element will vary depending on the amount of time remaining.

NOTE: When this fault exists the dryer can still be used but regardless of the Sensor Drying program selected the dryer will use the 90 minute Timer Drying program, Timer Drying programs will use the selected program, and with both types of programs the element will cycle as above. The buzzer will also still be sounding.

If an exhaust sensor fault is detected the buzzer will beep and the Reminder Clean the Filter LED will flash. The LED flashes at different rates depending what is wrong with the sensor -

Fast (4 per second) = open circuit senor, broken wiring or multi pin plug not correctly fitted to the control board.
Slow (2 per second) = Short circuit in sensor or wiring.

The sensor resistance at different temperatures is as shown below.

Temperature (Celsius) Resistence (Ohms)
55 2960
50 3570
45 4330
40 5280
35 6490
30 8030
25 10000
20 12555
15 15880
10 20260
5 26080
0 33870

As you can see this is NTC thermistor with Negative Temperature Coefficient , means if temperature increasing the resistance decreasing.

Start/stop lights are flashing with "50" minutes readout. should be OFF. how do I clear it for good?

these dryers have alot of board problems i've seen them beep and then start up by themselves gotta love frigidaire, the computer board took the place of the timer so if the dryer didn't advance to off and got stuck in the same spot you knew it was the timer,so if it doesn't count down and beeps it sounds like a board issue and sometimes the board can't read itself out and you won't get a code.try unplugging it for like 5 to 10 minutes and then plug it back in to see if it resets the board but it probably will go back to doing the same thing

Just stopped working. No burning smell. When start button pushed, some kind of tiny "click" sound heard around the timer.

The click is most likely the timer motor moving the dial on the timer. The motor circuit on American dryers is 120 volts whilst the heater requires 240 volts to operate its 5k element. The motor circuit always has the fuse in it. The heating element has limits mounted on it but they only kill power to the element and not the motor. Fuses are usually located on the blower housing next to the control thermostat. MORE HERE
