Some routers have firewalls built in, so that could be stopping it. Others require passwords before allowing connection. You might also need to check the router is working properly.

Open comm manager , and tap on the Wifi icon, to enable the wireless connection
Then click on settings and tap on wirelss lan
Check under the main tab
If you are getting the configuration setting and if they are correct.
If not tap on the change network tab and then see.
Note : WIFI lan would only work if you are near a hotspot or a wireless router. It is not dependent upon your cell phone provider
