You might have filled up the memory to the brim and the phone doesn't have enough to switch on.
Try reformat to original settings. anything you stored on the phone will be lost.
How to reformat your phone, first turn it OFF. Press * 3 send at the same time and keep them pressed while you turn the phone on.
Give it time to work.
Remember, do not let go the 3 keys until you see the formatting screen.
After a few minutes when the process is over, your Nokia N70 will be back to the original delivered system.

There are 3 possible problems from my point of view.
1) The cardreader is not working so you need to change it.
2) The inside connections are not working proprietly or unplugged.
3) The operatin sistem has problems with this cardreader

Sorry, i've just figured it out, that the problem might be because you're using 3G card, if it uses 3G not only for internet but also for calls and messages. I think that's why your phone does not accept your card.
SOURCE: htc 8925 error "sim card
I see this is an older post but I wanted to post the solution that helped me after a very frustrating 30 minutes. I was having the same problem. I bought a new phone (HTC 8925), and when it arrived, I plugged it into the wall charger and inserted the SIM card. I still got the "SIM card not detected" error. After removing an inserting, checking all possibilities of having done it wrong, and searching the internet only to not find the answer, I tried something that worked.
My solution: When I unplugged the charger and reinserted the SIM card, it worked immidiately. It was as if being plugged into the charger was not allowing the phone to reboot completely, even though I was powering the phone down and back up again. Since this was the solution, if you are having the problem and not connected to a charger, I would try a soft reset by pressing the stylus into the button (tiny whole) to the right of the USB port.
