Perhaps I will sound too banal, but have you tried to contact the manufacturer?

SOURCE: Tomtom not finding gps satellites

i had exactly the same problem, i dont really know how i solved it but first i thought it could be a memory problem slowing the gps signel so i reset the tom tom to factory settings then downloaded the updates from the tom tom home program of corce i lost all my destinations but i didnt want to do a back up just incase one of the updates had a virus or something so if u want to keep them i sugest u write them down first.and then i got a safty pin and pressed the reset button underneath where the memory card goes twice the second time i held it down for about 10 seconds then i looked for updates again from tom tom home. after that in tom tom home there is an option where u can operate your tom tom on your pc so i tryed that and i put in a destination on the pc and clicked on demo tour so i watched the route first it was a bit slow but started to speed up a little. after it had finished i un plugged the sat nav and went for a walk with it around the house soon as i went out side and set a destination it found 6 gps signels, make sure yhe battery is charged to at least half. well i hope anyone who follows my steps gets the same results, thought i lost 200 quid cos i have had it over two years and its only guarenteed for 12 months. well good luck.

SOURCE: waiting for valid gps signal

Go to TomTom Home on your computer and do a update for your unit. In the update list you should see a GPS quick fix which helps the TomTom's aquire a signal faster. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: waiting for valid gps signal

The GPS needs at least 3 satellite signals to operate. You are probably in a bad reception area. Move around a bit and try again until you see a signal array of 3 or more!

Why is my gps losing its signal

Try connecting it to the computer and running an update from TomTom Home, there is a GPS fix that might help. Obviously the TomTom needs clearence to see the satalites in the sky otherwise try a hard reset with a pen in the bottom.

Keeps displaying cannot get valid gps signal was working fine last week now does not work

i work as a truck driver on a small fleet of 7 vehicles in the midlands UK

3 of us have Tom Toms, the others have medion, navman or garmin.

ALL the tom tom users have been experiencing GPS problems this week ( june 21 onwards ) whilst the rest of us have seen no change in GPS satelite availability.

In addition, a friend who uses a TOM TOM One XL in another part of the UK has also had same problems.

Its a TOM TOM problem generally it seems, and NOT your particular piece of kit.

Tomtom keeps loosing GPS SIGNAL AND TAKES LONG TIME TO COME BACK

Plug in your tomtom and open my computer. Make note of the driver letter next to the tomtom symbol. Click Start, run (or search on vista or windows 7) and type in "CMD" without quotes and hit enter. a black window will open. type the letter you noted in my computer followed by a colon. Example: F: and press enter.
then type "chkdsk /f" without quotes and press enter. Answer yes to all the following prompts. once completed "takes less than a minute" type exit.

You can also try tomtom backup and then restore.
