its a problem with the sync speed. i just learned about this in class. if the shutter speed and sync speed and not synchronized, often they turn out like this.
for example, if your sync speed (in flash) is at 1/60th of a second, (1/60th is what it normally is but read your manual to be sure) and your shutter speed is set faster, like 1/250th, the time the curtain in the body of the camera is going across the frame youre shooting wont be in sync with the flash so you get the black line.
if using flash, or fill flash, in automatic, you can adjust the aperture, but when adjusting the shutter speed make sure you dont set it faster then your cameras sync speed. you can always set the shutter speed lower, just make sure you use a tripod or flat surface to balance the camera pom. to keep the camera steady, because camera shake starts at speeds after/lower than 1/60th.
hope this helps.

hello, first of all, make a copy true the adf,and the next on the platen glass,if both copys are good, then the problem is inside the machine,i.e.drum unit or fuser roller damage.
if the strikes only occurs,by using the adf, then cleaning the scanner platen glass,it is the small glass unit!!! on the left side, from the big platen glass..
good luck Sjeuf
Take the cartridge out and shack it side to side a few times to move the toner around and reinstall it.
