SOURCE: car tv shuts off

I had the same problem with my Son's TV ( Disney Cars 13" TV/DVD). It would work for a few minutes and then turn off. After reading the other posts, I found one that mentioned dry solders in the flyback section. I removed the back cover, again pretty easy with the help of another post on this site. (remove the lug nuts, and then the 6 screws that hold the wheels on. With the wheels off you can remove the 1 screw per side that need to come off. In addition, ther are 2 small screws by the video out section, and the 2 more screws at the top of the back secton.) really not bad.

I labeled each of the cables, and then removed the main board.

I used a basic soldering iron and retouched each point on the power and flyback sections of the board. I did not really see anything that looked bad, but I'm technician but I have played with electronics over the years.

reassembled and it works, it has been on for an hour now.

SOURCE: Sylvania MTS/SAP tv/vcr/dvd combo turning itself off

could be that either the dvd or the vcr are malfunctioning, usually it is the vcr that creates the problem. If you turn tv on and set vol to low see if you can hear the noise of the motor loading or trying to load, with out a tape inside. It may be a good idea to have a qualified tech repair it, these units are difficult to work on and further problems may come up if you are not familiar with the tv.

SOURCE: digital labs 19 inch tv/dvd combo

Wish I knew the answer ... I have the same problem after switching to Dish Network (Satellite). It worked fine with Time Warner Cable. I'm suspecting the signal over Dish is analog (NTSC) which is not supported by this particular TV. I wish I still had the box and receipt!

Testimonial: "Thanks, I am going to call the company tomorrow and see if they have a solution. If not I am not sure what to do. Thanks for your help."

SOURCE: Insignia 26 inch TV/DVD Combo produces strange odor when on.

You should never have an acrid or burning smell coming from electronics. I'd return the unit, if that is still an option, as it is about to fail.

I have a Pyle 15 inch home television/DVD player combo but when I try playing a movie, or watch regular tv, or anything else, my tv audio won't play. I can see the video fine but can't hear anything.

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

TV/DVD Combo

Is there a tape in the VCR by chance?.
Usually what happens on these combo units is the VCR develops a mechanical problem which inhibits the whole thing from working or overloads the power supply causing it to shutdown.
The ones with the VCR underneath are difficult to work on as the cables to the VCR are so short you have to disconnect it in order to get it out where you can see what is going on, then work on a solution, put it all back together, test it, rinse - lather - repeat. Takes forever sometimes. Find a good VCR tech and talk to him nice and maybe they will help you.
