Never seen one that wasn’t easy to get out unless it frozen in place. If so, thaw it out.

SOURCE: The ice maker in my

Hello,

Take off the back panel in the freezer. 1/4" screws. Use a nut driver or ratchet and socket with an extension.
2. Behind the frost is the evaporator and the defrost heaters. One heater in the middle and one at the bottom. They are glass tubes. If you can see the bottom heater that is great. If not use a hair dryer and defrost only the very bottom to expose the lower heater only.
3. Now in the refrigerator section at the top where the controls are, take off the long plastic piece to expose the timer. The timer should be on the right hand side and have a little circle that is slotted. Get a flat screwdriver and turn that timer slowly clockwise just until it clicks and the refrigerator turns off. This will put it into defrost.
4. Now look at that heater that you exposed and see if it glows and gets hot. If it does, then the timer is bad.
5. If the heater doesn't come on then go ahead and defrost the rest of the evaporator with the hair dryer. This will take a little while. Don't poke at the evaporator!!!
6. Once totally defrosted look at both heaters. They should look like clear glass and see a silver coil running thru them. If they look discolored at all then the heaters are bad. The heaters come as a complete assembly with the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator.
7. If the heaters look ok the only way to know for sure if they are bad is to check continuity with a meter on the plug at the end of their wiring harness. If you can check that then you can splice in a new defrost thermostat to solve the problem. However the best thing to do is replace the heaters and defrost thermostat . It is easy to install.
Follow these steps and this will solve your problem.

I have a Maytag MSD 2352 side by side with a ice bucket problem. The back of the auger will accumulate snow and ice until the auger freezes and won't turn any more..I noticed at the back of the bucket...

The crack in the sliding track of your Maytag MSD 2352 ice bucket may be a contributing factor to the ice build up and auger freezing issue. The crack could be allowing moisture to enter and freeze, causing the build up. It is recommended to have the crack repaired or the sliding track replaced to help prevent the ice build up and auger freezing. If you are not comfortable with this repair, it is best to contact a professional technician for assistance.

My maytag refrigerator crushed ice will not switch back to cubes

Try replacing the ice bucket. That has the teeth and gears that crush the ice up. It could be stuck. If not then there's a solenoid in the back of the freezer that switches the ice bucket from cubed to crushed. You'll see the rod in the ice bucket slides into a square hole that moves up and down. That's it there.

Maytag MSD2651KES delivers crushed ice but no cubed

There is an metal arm that extends out behind the ice bucket that moves up and down when you press the cubed/crushed ice buttons. You need to take the ice bucket out and check the hardware. It's possible that some ice has managed to form in the unit and are blocking the motion. Remove any ice and check if the arm moves freely when you press the buttons on the refrigerator. Similarly, you should check if there is ice blocking the forward and back motion of the plunger in the freezer that bar sits on. This plunger is right next to the auger motor.

Remove icemaker

Mine does that. Ice is frozen to the drive shaft. Try using a long thin flat blade screwdriver under the ice bucket to try and lightly pry the bucket off. If it won't still budge then try removing all the ice you can and then running a hair dryer pointed at the bottom of the ice bucket where the metal part is. This will help melt the ice build up in there. 2nd option is pouring hot water in the bucket. This is all going to make a huge mess on the floor so get some towels. Eventually it will lift off while pushing the button in. The actual latches are plastic and not very long. It's the ice that's keeping it from lifting off.

Auto ice maker

reduce water fill, small adjustment screw on side of power head, clockwise for decrease, maximum one full turn. if that fails, remove i/m and check for cracked mold, fill with water and place on level table under paper towel. if ok, replace module.
