I have a Maytag Neptune MAH3000AWW. The machine doesn't spin fast and seems to make a growling/groaning noise whenever it "tries" to spin fast. Sometimes it manages to start spinning quickly (at which point the growling/groaning stops) and at other times it stays slow with the noise continuing. To me it sounds like the engine/motor is working hard to get the machine to spin quickly, but it's not managing. I tried to run a few washes to test and sometimes the machines drains all the water out (when it did manage to get into fast spin), while at other times the clothing stayed soaking wet (slow spin only with noise). I am able to manually spin the tub from the inside relatively quickly (no noise then). Any ideas?

Could be tub bearing wearing and giving resistance. Could be water pump is bad. Could be motor is bad.

Testimonial: "It doesn't look the bearing is bad, because I can manually spin the tub without issue. The water pump looks good because it does pump out water well."

SOURCE: washer won't spin fast, only slow

tyr removing the lower acees panel from the uint , ther is a "button trap" located there to catch debris from entering pump assy, chances are its clogged and if it cant drain all the water it wont go into high speed spin, also you MUST use an HE detergent. HE detergent specifically designed for front loading washers

Have you replaced your 12002535 door latch wax motor if you have a MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500A or the 2000 stacker? These wax motors will eventually fail on every Neptune shipped. When the wax motor fails the upper machine control board be damaged and you will lose your spin function which leaves your clothes soaking wet. There is a website that offers a repair kit to see if your control board is useable again. Don't keep starting machine because you might cause further damage to control board and the motor control board located near the floor until you see if R11 is burnt on the upper machine control board located behind the timer.

See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for more details and step-by-step disassembly photos.

SOURCE: Strange growling sounds on rinse and spin cycle

I would check the motor control board located near the floor on the right side for burnt components. The motor is a 3 phase unit and if one of the phases are working the motor will growl and won't be able to supply the proper torque.

See www.neptunehelp.com for disassembly photos and for more info on the faulty door latch wax motor.

SOURCE: maytag neptune mah3000aww spin problem

there are 2 wires going back to the board. They connect to a blue harness. Make sure their is continuity thru the harness. It connects to 3 out of balance swithches. Also check to see if lock light comes on.

My maytag neptune mah3000aww spins slowly then reverses, then spins slowly. will not reach regular spinning speed. What is the problem?

it could be a balance problem. Most machines are programmed to abort fast spin if the drum is unbalanced. This can be caused by too much in there, or possible the contents have clumped together somehow. Try a spin cycle only with an empty machine and see if it reaches full spin

My maytag neptune MAH3000aww washing won't go into

most common issue with these is the door lock assy. You need to remove the control panel and check the R11 resistor on the board most likely it will be burnt. This was a common issue a few years back. If the R11 resistor is burnt you need to replace the door lock AND control board or your problem will occur again.

Hope this helps _MJ_

MAH3000AWW Does not spin fast enough on spin cycle Clothes are still full of water when done.

hi there ..sounds like your appliance is not spinning at all........(a) check if your drain pump is working correctly..(simply fill water and turn to drain)..(b) possiblity that the clutch drive mechanism is badly worn and needs replaced

The groaning sound seems as if the belt is broaken and the motor is trying to spin a little too fast because it doesn't have a load on it. Take a look to see if the belt is broken and if so, you can purchase a replacement belt at Lowes for approximately $7.00.
