SOURCE: i purchased a SANYO-DP46848 42"HDTV.

I just got the same exact one, when it searches automatically the first time it doesn't look for digital channels. go to Menu>manual channel search>cable. it will look for all possible signals and will take forever probably. the free digital channels will take several seconds to switch channel to channel, but they're there! They will show up on your screen as "DC 91-2" or similar. you can switch back to regular cable channels with the input button, you just cycle through all the inputs. hope that helps.

SOURCE: olevia not searching channels

try the following..

Q. Why are the menu settings that I changed not being saved? A. The TV is in Showroom mode. The following steps will help you switch to Home mode.

  1. Press Menu button from the remote,
  2. Press Down arrow key until you see the word Picture, then press the Right arrow key,
  3. Press Down arrow key until you see Mode, then press the Right arrow key,
  4. Press Down arrow key until you see Power Up, then press the Right arrow key,
  5. Press Down arrow key until you see Home, then press the Enter key,
  6. Press Menu button four times to exit out from the OSD Menu.
***Showroom mode is designed for retailers to display the TV and to protect from shoppers changing the settings that are predetermined for shelf display environment.***.

Q. Why does my TV display "No Signal" or "Channel not in List"? A. Channel search needs to run the very first time of use or after the default settings are loaded from the OSD menu. The following steps will guide you through the process.
  1. Press Source button until Tuner is visible on the upper right corner,
  2. Press Menu button from the remote,
  3. Press Down arrow key until you see Setup, then press the Right arrow key,
  4. Press Down arrow key until you see TV, then press the Right arrow key,
  5. Press Down arrow key until you see Auto Channel Search, then press the Right arrow key,
  6. Press Down arrow key until you see Air (for antenna; select Cable if you have cable service), then press the Right arrow key. The scan process will start.
  7. Wait until the process is complete then you will be able to select the channel you like to watch.

SOURCE: i have an older sanyo tv with no menu button. I

your options are:

1. buy a replacement multi-remote with a menu button on it and program it for your tv (the 4inone remotes are great for this task)

2. hook up a new digital tuner/converter and tune through it with its remote.

3. find another remote for your tv on ebay.

my personal choice would be #2 as that way you also get hd channels.
as well as a remote.

HDMI input works ok. Hooked up external antenna. Did channel scan. It will only scan for analog channels. Has analog raster on screen. It has no information on menu page for digital channel scan.

do you have the air option in the scan menu see
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sanyo/dp42841.html
page 9 important fact cable digital gets wiped by air digital channels

You may be able to get around this via a digital hd tv decoder box and then have it on a hdmi input on the TV as a backup to the cable if you can't have both cable digital channels stored and aerial digital channels stored

Using a digital antenna to channel scan for broadcasted channels

It is no different that channel scanning for cable or analog over-the-air channels. You simply ensure that you have selected the digital tuner of the set prior to scanning. Some older flat panel sets do not have integrated digital tuners. A digital antenna alone will not allow these sets to receive digital broadcast channels. A converter box is needed to convert the digital broadcast signals to analog for the tuner in the set. Also, sets that do not have digital tuners may not support the resolution rate of digital TV broadcasts. Most digital HD broadcasts are 720p and a few are 1080p.

How do I run a channel auto scan?

There are many different ways, because each TV manufacturer calls each menu option something different. In your TV menu there should be an option that says Set Up, or Channels, or something similar. Your TV should be, Menu, pan right to Channel, select whether you are using Air (air meaning antenna, picking up channels that are broadcast free over the air) or Cable (only if you use cable with no box). Then the option below should be auto scan. Allow to run completely. Sanyo DP42D24 User Manual Channel

My picture is not good. I'm hooked up to digital

to get best picture and sound you need to use HDMI connection. This is normally if you have a HD cable box. If you don't have a HD box, use the coax connection directly from the cable line. On your TV, hit the menu button, use the arrow up/down to select manual channel search, select cable and hit enter. this will scan all the digital and analog channels.

New dp 19648 sanyo hdtv no signal detected

You gotta have a way to get signal to the tv . If you don't want a outside antenna use rabbit ears .After you hook them up hide them behind the tv then do a channel scan. If you don't pick up all the stations set them on top and scan again or get satillite or cable hd boxes.
