Be fore id replace anything have u tried blowing out your lines with compressed air with a water filter last thing u want is water vaper and your control valves if their dirty it won't let the correct flow take everything a part an clean it all that was my problem with my gas heater this winter for cleaned i didn't have to by nothing I d try this first hope this helps
The controller is most likely bad. Once the thermo coupling is released it should continue the flow of propane to the heater grid.
Look on Ebay for a replacement thermo coupling. It shouldn't be expensive. Good luck...

two items come into play here - 1) the hot surface cutout and 2) the flame detect Cd cell. Check alignment of the Cd cell or just replace it. The hot surface cutout has two terminals that plug into the two tabs on the millivolt generator.

Do you have the serial number or the manufacture date? There are some design changes and I would need to know the year of manufacture to assist accurately. Usually it is a relay or the thermocouple connection that will affect the unit staying lit.

most likely you have a thermopile that has low output. it takes about 100mv to maintain pilot light

It sounds like a thermocouple has gone bad. this is a very common problem with gas powered things ie; water heaters, furnaces, hot tubs. The telltale sign is when you release the pilot light button it won't stay lit. This is a safety feature and is relatively inexpensive and easy to repair.

I have the same problem with my Reddy heater 55-f. Is it thermal coupling or relay?
