Hello, David -

Did you replace all 4 batteries? If not, Hokey Pokey Elmo takes 4 AA batteries:
https://service.mattel.com/instruction_sheets/B6678.pdf

If all 4 batteries are new, the problem may be with the circuit board or wiring.

This video of disassembling a Tickle Me Elmo may be instructive if you wish to open up your Hokey Pokey Elmo and check on the wiring and circuit board:
https://makezine.com/2016/04/08/tickle-me-elmo-how-about-dissect-modify-elmo/
I suspect Tickle Me Elmo and Hokey Pokey Elmo were built the same way.

Sometimes there is just a broken wire in the box due to the vibrations made by the oscillator and or the batteries being removed and replaced activity. A blown circuit is rare unless someone tried to fix it and wired it wrong. It only takes a millisecond to blow a component if wired wrong. Same holds if a circuit gets wet ! Best advice is to remove the power source i.e. the batteries; and dry everything before turning it on !

The circuit itself is a small card. There are a few discrete components that are wired to the card. Check the connections. If you don't know exactly where the broken wire goes, don't guess ! It could be the end of Elmo as you knew him ! Get advice ! It could be the difference of a quick soldering and having to replace the entire unit. Don't be afraid of opening it up while just checking. Just put the screws back the way they came out.

Do it all with the batteries removed, please !

If the Device does nothing, it maybe the on/off switch. The batteries are obviously the first thing you checked, right?

If it talks; but, doesn't wiggle, its the oscillator connection.

If it wiggles but doesn't talk, it may just be the speaker wire.

If it talked but didn't wiggle and someone worked on it and now it does nothing, the person blew a component on the board. Most likely a capacitor. They don't take change in polarity very well ! The whole board is as cheap as the sum of its parts and labor.

If you get Hokey Pokey Elmo back to working properly, be sure to remove all 4 batteries when not in use and stored for a period of time, so that the batteries do not corrode and ruin Elmo.

Best wishes.

What does ' dim error mean when u type in data for confidence intervals in a graphics calculator?'

The DIM Error usually pops up when something is amiss with the domain.

I usually fix this by

A. Finding the typo in my inputs.
B. Switching my independent variable with my dependent variable
C. Doing the hokey-pokey and turning myself around.

What type of data are you typing in there, sophs? Is there a probability distribution lurking within the data set? hmmmm? Do tell, because a more detailed description could possibly enhance your solution.

Hokey Pokey Elmo sings and moves his hand and foot but stopped shaking and won't turn around in a circle. It worked fine then stopped working we changed the batteries and it worked a short time then quit...

Hi ms_debbie13

    How to Activate
  1. This plush, shiny red Elmo is standing with his arms up above his head. One foot is lifted slightly off the floor and the other is on the floor. On that foot, there is a swivel allowing Elmo to turn, the battery door and the on/off switch. Turn Elmo on and stand him upright then squeeze his left hand to begin his song.

Elmo really moves his right arm and leg in time with the song, and also turns in a circle. When the song is done Elmo says, "Whew.. that was fun! Elmo's pooped!"
  2. Alternative Mode
  3. The alternative mode is Elmo trying to keep up as the music keeps getting faster. If Elmo falls over he will say, "Woops!" and then he will thank you when you set him back upright.

Hokey Pokey Elmo will sing, but not dance.

The motors may be bad. There should be a motor for vibration, arm(s), and leg(s). OR your batteries need to be changed.
