I have a Yamaha RX V 673 amp. The tuner looses almost all volume and gets distorted almost as soon as it's turned on. I can play a c.d. player through it without a problem.

Online I see fixes for an amp problem but nothing for a amp problem but nothing for the tuner.

you need something called a "Line Output Converter". It will reduce the speaker level signal and is usually adjustable. Most car audio shops have them for about $20.

SOURCE: Electric Guitar wont play through Amp

the buzzing is indicative of an open ground connection, check the cord by substitution or with an ohm meter, if the cord is good look at the connections to the jack inside the amp ( im guessing you built the amp from a kit). Is this a solid state amplifier? Tube amps have lethal votages and should not be experimented on without knowledge of electronic safety. Also if there is more than one input to the amp try plugging the guitar into another one and see if its still the same.

SOURCE: yamaha rx v1800 receiever will only play tuner on zone 2 speakers

Solution on page 111 of the owner's manual:

"Connect the source component to the analog audio input jacks of this unit to play back the source in Zone 2 or Zone 3.
This unit does not output the audio signals input at the DIGITAL INPUT and HDMI jacks to the ZONE OUT jacks."

Basically you cannot use an HDMI input if you want to play in Zone 2 or 3. A simple solution is to add an extra audio cable from your PS3 audio output jack to an analog audio input jack on the receiver.

SOURCE: Yamaha receiver RX-V663

Make sure you have an analog RCA audio cable from the source to the receiver. Digital coaxial or optical will not work for zone 2 or zone 3. By adding an analog cable it will not affect your main zone, it will always go to digital first. Hope this helps

My Yamaha RX - 460 receiver's volume output is extremely low even when put at maximum setting. Sound does come through both speakers.

One of the most common problems that causes this is someone may have accidentally turned on the tape monitor switch. You turn the tape monitor on/off by pressing the tape 1 or tape 2 button. Hope this helps.

I have a yamaha Rx-v361 i get sound when in DVD mode, SAT mode but no sound in TUNER or AUX (MP3 player) modes, i checked all the wiring in the back of the unit and everything is connected. please advise

Tuner is internal so there's no way wrong 'wiring' could be the problem there.

Does the tuner actually 'tune' a station?

If you're using V-Aux on the front panel for your MP3 player, make sure you haven't assigned V-Aux to a digital function. Page 48.

I just purchased a Yamaha RX-V465 AV Receiver, and I cannot get any sound out of it except for when I have Tuner selected. I have my OPPO CD/DVD player hooked up via HDMI and via the stereo analog audio...

Also the test tone is working OK (Setup / Speaker Setup / Test Tone)? Have you used automatic speaker setup with the supplied YPAO microphone?
For HDMI, you need to configure the receiver to "take" out the audio from HDMI. Go to Setup / Function Setup / HDMI / Audio and select "Amp" to route the audio to receiver, or "Amp+TV" for audio to go both to receiver and to TV. You can also check in Options Menu / Signal Info that receiver has recongnized the sound and what format it thinks it is in.

Hooked up to sony bravia 52" tv and can barely hear sound

You'll want to turn of the TV speakers in the Remote Menu and try turning up the volume level of the TV, which usually controls the level of the RCA outputs, as well
