Hello, I have a old Brother MFC-9970CDW, it has been working very well, but recently it prints with a lot of cyan color stripes, so much that the sheet looks all full cyan color. Eeven if I exchange the toner cartridge for another color, in the position of the cyan color toner, the sheet comes out with the stripes of that color. I already change cartridges, the whole drum unit, the belt unit, the waste toner box, the fuser unit, etc, and the problem persists. But, its only haapen when the print job have color, the black/white or grayscale print sheets it's printing good, whats (WTF) is goin on??, please help.
Try cleaning the heads a few times then run the align heads feature that should do it!
Best of Luck,
Robbie ??
Pull the drum tray out completely. With a soft cloth clean the laser scanner windows located in the roof of the chamber. Then remove the cyan toner cartridge from the tray and clean the corona wire at the front of the unit. Lastly clean the transfer belt with a clean soft cloth. If necessary moisten it with Iso propanol or white Meths. Put it all back together and try again. Lastly if it happens with print jobs but not photocopies, you may have a corrupted printer driver. Try deleting and re-installing from fresh (preferably the original CD).

First off, this is a comment from a random person who may or may not know ALOT about these printers and toner/printer design in general. All toners are not designed to the same specification. Toner is a combination of plastic "pigment" and iron like shavings to make it magentically attracted to the electrical charges within the unit. Different toners conform to different grades and mainly size of the particles within the blend. The manufacturer doesnt only recommend that you use their toner to make them money, yes of course it makes money, but its because when the unit is designed it is designed to use a certain grade of toner, trust me if you put the non-branded toner vs the branded toner under a microscope you would see quite a difference. Often the non-branded toner is much larger in particle size (obviousely because its cheaper to make at this spec). This causes a variety of issues from excess toner not being cleaned off of developer rollers, IDT rollers, or clogging of toner dispenser tubes in the unit and the micro filters contained at the toner dispenser assy and developer assys. Also as for the issue not changing when switching to dell branded toner - the dispenser tubes within this unit contain up to 500-1000 pages worth of toner, making no change in toner you make immediately visible. Also depending on the damage caused by the previous toner, it may not be able to be fixed until all the components in between the toner and final delivery (drum cart) are replaced. In this case more than likely the toner dispenser assy, all developer assy's, and drum cartridge need to be replaced, and than be sure to stick with factory branded toner :)

remove PC drum and under that you can see laser glass, clean it and reinstall.
SOURCE: can you force a printer to print in grayscale?
Yes, you can bypass the color printing. The software you are using for printing can help you change from colour to gray scale or adjust it in the printer properties.

Sounds like a bad drum cartridge. Pull the toner/drum cartridge out of the machine and set it down. Press down on a (blue?) tab to release the toner cartridge, and you can lift the toner cartridge out of the drum cartridge. There is a cleaning blade in there - a soft plastic blade that rides against the drum and scrapes off toner that didn't get transferred to the paper. If it gets stuck off the drum surface, images repeat a few inches (one drum circumference) down the page.
A new DR-350 drum unit should fix it. have the machine's power on when replacing it. While the door is open, touch the CLEAR key. The display will read "REPLACE DRUM?" or something like that. Press 1 for Yes.
