The deck belt is not adjustable, it is tightened by the number 26 spring. Spring can loose tension or the belt could be stretched.

Request the wiring diagram from Toro.

I have found that although they may look similar, with out changing brackets and adding new pulleys they will not interchange. Also decks from the same manufacturer will be different in different years.

It depends on the brand of machine as to whether this would work or not. Some of them will interchange and work without and issues. However, most of the time this will not work due to the changes in mounting brackets and hangers.

Best way to check that out is to run it for six or seven minutes and see it the number changes by .1 and if it takes an hour of running to move the nkmber you will know that it reads hours nit tenths.

...... you will find the newer 38" decks are a very close match up.

Craftsman is made by Murray Corp. who also makes Murry, YardMan, Lowes, Penncraft, and on and on. Go to your local Wal-Mart, Lawn and Garden Dept. and look for the belt that fits the Murray, YardMan, Lowes, Toro, 42" Deck 14-18 HP. Or take your old belt with you, and stretch them both end to end holding the end loops with each hand. Or you could go to Sears and just tell the parts department what your mower is and they can get you a Craftsman belt. It will be the same one you get at Lowe's, Wal-Mart, ect, probably just cost a little more. Sears doesn't make mowers, they just have their colors and names put on by the manufactorer. And Murray of Ohio is the maker of these.
