Restriction of Airflow. The harder it has to work the more air it needs to cool the motor. So you need to source the blockage or clog.

Although Dyson's vacuum cleaners don't come with a video game-style reset button, you can reset the brush bar on upright models. ... Turn your Dyson vacuum cleaner's power off and unplug the cord from the electrical outlet. Flip the machine over to reveal the bottom side of the vacuum cleaner head.
Machine cut out during use. Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system thatstops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the machine or tools are blocked. If your machine cuts out, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down.

First, check your outlet for power...plug something else in. Then, inspect the cord and check the power switch. You can use a multimeter to test across the power plug of the vacuum in the ohms position. Turn the switch off and on. If it does not change readings...the switch or cord is bad. If it does, it might be the motor.

SOURCE: dyson dc17 power on/off button will not engage when pressed

The on/off switcdh underneath the button sounds like it's faulty and will need replacing. I would suggest caling Dyson in your country with the Serial No of the unit for guidance.

SOURCE: hi,my dyson animal cuts out and wont restart until

The electric motor inside your Dyson has a built in over-current trip to protect itself (and you if it seriously overheated and caught fire). This normally automatically resets itself, however if the motor has just about had it, next time it is switched on it just trips again.

The primary cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Dont be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be regularly cleaned and replaced when necessary.

Replacement motors are available on eBay for about £25, however replacing one requires good DIY skills and tools.

Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com and see if you feel you can tackle it yourself. If not, take it to a repair shop or call the Dyson helpline.

Dyson DC62- I've cleaned all parts of the roller head, checked filters, connections The roller will start then top seconds later. Is there more that I can do or do I need to replace the whole part?

Hi,
Have you checked that there is nothing behind the roller or in the outlet 'neck'/pipe which is still blocking the roller-head.?
Have you checked that the machine is actually sucking properly at the forward nozzle.?
Have you checked that the locking end caps on the brush roller have been twisted back into their 'locked' positions.?
Best of luck

My new dyson digital slim only runs for 9 minutes and says on the box to run for 15 minutes. Can I return it

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Good news - you shouldn't need to return your machine! Dyson Digital Slim cordless vacuums have two power levels - high suction power mode for regular vacuuming, and Boost mode, which provides 6 minutes of highest suction power for tackling tougher tasks.

It sounds like you're using your machine set to Boost mode, which will reduce runtime to around 6 minutes. To change back to normal power, hold down the on/off trigger so the vacuum is running. Then at the same time, press and release the round illuminated Boost button on the rear of the machine.

I'm confident this will resolve things - if not, Dyson experts are on hand to help. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline for further assistance by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do i turn on boost

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

In Boost mode, DC59 offers 100 airwatts of suction to tackle really stubborn dirt or clinging pet hair. To activate Boost mode, just hold down the on/off trigger so the vacuum is running, then press and release the Boost button on the rear of the vacuum. To change back to regular power, you would follow the same procedure - holding down the trigger and pressing the Boost button a second time.

I hope this helps, but you're welcome to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call if you'd like further guidance. You can reach our experts on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I want your instruction manual for my Dyson dc59 in french

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

As the Dyson DC59 Digital Slim cordless vacuum is not sold in France, we don't have the User guide for this particular model available in French. However, the very similar DC62 is on sale in France and I would be happy to email you a .pdf copy of the DC62 User guide.

Please email me directly at [email protected] so I can arrange this for you. I'll look forward to hearing from you.
