SOURCE: sour smell coming from inside whirlpool duet front loader

Residual water sits inside the wash tub under the stainless steel basket and in the drain lines & drain pump. This is normal. If you are in the habit of using very few hot water cycles and do not leave the washer door open when not in use, bacteria, mold and mildew can build up and cause the sour smell you are experiencing. The following link provides some good info on how to prevent these odors:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r513372-front_loader_mildew_odor

You may also want to remove the drain pump reservoir and check to see if you have anything caught. Sometimes debris can build up in the drain pump and cause odors. The following link explains how to check the drain pump:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385845-checking_drain_pump_in_whirlpool_duet

I personally own a front loader such as yours and have never had a problem with odors by following this simple advice. Occasionally run a sanitary cycle with nothing but bleach in the water. For washers with no santitary cycle, run it on the hottest setting you have. Sorry...front loaders require a bit more TLC than conventional top loaders. I hope this helps you. If you have questions, please let me know.

SOURCE: F-02 error code on whirlpool front loader duet

F/02 Long Drain
If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and "F/02" is flashed.
NOTE: After 4 minutes the "Sud" error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
  • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
  • If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump

Washer trouble

F DL is a code for door lock failure. Either the door latch is bad or the main control is not sensing the door latching and is giving the code. Many times it is a bad connection where the door latch wires connect to the main board.

My whirlpool 6th sense front loader has stopped whilst full of water, half way through a wash. Have emptied machine, Still no power, machine wont turn on.

Hello Janine Gooch,

Went out on our internet trying to find your trouble shooting guide (typically in the OWNERS MANUAL)...

Finally ended up in AU ... No luck.
(September 9th is only 6 hours old here (SF Bay area)).

Your local peers have NOTHING NICE to say about that machine... particularly the CONTROL BOARD:

Washer Starts, Stops by itself. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Light flash on and off at random.

The flashing lights probably are a fault or error code. Sometimes you can diagnose the problem from them. The first thing I would do with the symptoms that you describe is check all the electrical for loose connections, Make sure all the plugs are fully seated in the control board as well as the components that they go to. Did you have an lightning storm lately. This could have blown the main control board. There is a method to diagnose each one of these that is listed in the service manual. You need to be fairly Savoy with electronics and ohm meters. Your service manual may be taped to the inside of your washer body, my whirlpool was.

I have a Whirlpool front loader it gives me a

The FL error code means:
Flood Condition:
FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

This problem I see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.

There is a check "valve" in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. You can remove this piece, and might avoid changing the pump.

F30 error code on whirlpool front loader

The F30 error code will flash when the dispenser motor cannot be driven to its proper position.

* It could have a mechanical failure in the linkage between the dispenser motor and the top of the dispenser.
* Loose wire connection between the machine control board and the dispenser motor
* Failed dispenser motor

Whirlpool Washer #WFW8300SW01 will not operate.

There's a couple of reasons for the F-01, most common is a bad relay on the main control board. (CCU)
This washer will also flash that code if:
1: Either the back or front access panels are removed while operating, there are ground safety switches that are held closed by the panels.
2: If the power supply outlet is supplying much less than 120V (usually would need to be 112V or less to cause it)
3: If the polarity is incorrect (hot and neutral reversed) at the outlet
4: If there is an open ground at the outlet.
The easiest way to check 3&4 is with a simple plug in outlet tester. I have seen all of these problems throw an F-01, but I would still say 9 out of 10 times you have no option but replacing the CCU. Make sure to double check your manual about the warranty info, as some electronic controls are often covered beyond the 1yr standard warranty. If you're going to replace it yourself, it is accessed by removing the top panel, and is located towards the front, right side of the cabinet, and has a zillion wire harnesses plugged into it. When replacing the board, note that there may be some harness connections available on the board that are not used, mark them as such. Hope this helps.

The spinning cycle stopped and it flashes 06 F

The F06 code on the Duet usually indicates a motor related problem. It is a "drive motor tachometer error". It means that the control board is unable to properly detect motor speed. Check the electrical connections and wiring between the motor and the motor control board and between the motor control board and the central control board. Try unplugging and reseating the connections to clean off any corrosion. If that is unsuccessful, then I recommend contacting an appliance technician for assistance. Sorry for your trouble and best wishes.
