I own the Viking Rose embroidery machine, the 4D extra & the amazing box. My computer is a Mac Sierra & it does not recognize these programs. How can I update my software to work with my computer?

if it won't recognize dongle, you have a computer issue.
For registration issues in 4D (In for Vista only), go to "user accounts" and turn off user account control (control panel) this helps registration issues from Vista

QUESTIONS:
is the reader writer a USB or parallel cord? (they have both.
If it's USB you need the 256K card otherwise the regular card, and yes it can work you just have to have the right card for your reader writer.

Buy a PC, or get the program that mac has that supports pc programs. I've seen it work so I'm sure it's an optioin. Mac people don't like the program, but it will create an environment that supports PC programs.

I would reccomend that you go to the dealer and think about upgrading your machine, I used to have a Rose. I upgraded and am happy I did, I think you can get the 4D with some of the new machines...if not deal for it with your new machine.
