SOURCE: Gas fireplace pilot flame won't stay lit.

Hi , you can try and pull the panel on the bottom of fireplace out and check the adapter in fireplace. Sometimes they go bad. When you open in also check to see if there is an adapter plugged in and a option to use the battery operated function. If this goes bad the pilot will not stay lit.

SOURCE: gas fireplace will not stay lit

there is a probe that is in the one of the flame... This once heated builds up enough pressure do to the heat to keep the shut/off valve open... (reason, if the flame went out the gas would continue to flow) this "thermocouple is replaceable !! contact me at [email protected]

I changed the thermo coupler and the pilot light does stay lit but the burners won't light

If you are referring to a gas fireplace:

  • Make sure the pilot knob is turned from "pilot" to "ON" or it will never run.
  • If the pilot knob is "ON", and the pilot is lit, but the burner won't light, it could be a bad Thermopile. The thermopile is the other safety mechanism in the pilot assembly that controls the burner.

I changed my thermocouple on my fireplace,it still wont stay lit

Thermocouple keeps the pilot lit.
Thermopile keeps the burner lit.
Please specify what won't stay lit...
If it's the burner, you may need to change the thermopile as well.
If the pilot still won't stay lit, you will want to make sure that the pilot flame is large enough to completely engulf the thermocouple and keep it hot. If it's too small, you may need to take some compressed air and blow out the pilot hood to remove any blockage.

Gas fireplace wont stay lit- it is a sealed unit so can taccess the pilot or gas holes in the logs. is it safe to remove glass panel?

Yes, removing the glass is safe, if you do it carefully, so as not to break it. Put it well out of your way, after removing it. In fact, removing it is the only way to access and service the Pilot Assembly and the Burners.

If the pilot won't stay lit, there are several things that can cause this on a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace:
  • The direct vent on the outside of the house is block or clogged.
  • Wind is blowing back through the direct vent, blowing out the pilot.
  • Low gas pressure
  • A dirty pilot.
  • The thermocouple and/or Thermopile (part of the pilot assembly) has failed.
If you can provide me with the make and model number of your gas fireplace, I may be able to furnish you with an Owners Manual, that will help you to continue to troubleshoot the problem.

Hope this helped you.

My fireplace wont stay lit with the glass on the min i take the glass off it will stay lit i have a good vent and it is propain could it be that there ant enough gas presure it is a heat n glo 6000 the...

The reason this is happening is that the overload switch, which is part of the safety features has gone bad. That's why the burner will only light with the glass off. The orange color of the flame from the pilot flame is normal for propane.

Unfortunately, this is not a DIY fix. If you can find a qualified service technician, that's the best way to go. As, Heat-n-Glow fireplaces are a basic, builder box line. And as such, have some quirks that other, more expensive gas fireplaces don't have.

Hope this helps solve your problem.
