SOURCE: Yamaha DSP-A2070 intermittently fail to output audio to speakers

Probably selector switch when you turn to CD mode. The ball bearings inside the switch make poor connection resulting in intermitant problems to either speaker. Yamaha knows the selector switch is defective but has stayed silent. I've had mine replaced for $144.00 Can and it works AOK now. Different switch of course. I've had my problems with that switch for a long time and it was after a few years that a knowledgeable technician knew of the problem. Poor support by Yamaha! I'll never buy a Yamaha product again nor will my relatives and friends. Do the calculations and assess whether the cost of the switch is worth the value of the receiver. I think it is worth it as the receiver when it works is excellent. It is at a stage now when other problems could creep in though including corrosion on the boards and solder joints so have the technicians do a entire quality check at the same time...

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-550 receiver. Presently, no sound on

were you able to solve this one ? I have the same problem with mine. The only way to clear the lack of sound in one of the speakers is to rotate the input knob !!

SOURCE: Sherwood RX-5502 receiver - get

Hi,

After doing all this troubleshooting on your receiver, Check if master volume on the surround levels are too low. Adjust master and surround level.

There may aIso incorrect selection of the input source. Select the correct input source.

If after doing this the problem still continue, it means the sound ic in the receiver is damage. the sound ic brings out the sounds from the receiver. You will have to open the receiver to locate the sound ic in the receiver and use the multimeter to read capacitors and change the damage ones.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Speakers not playing

The problem can be the cable or speakers or RX-V463 or settings. Need to check one by one.
Set the RX-V on DTS or Dolby Digital
1) Check Cables - connect the 2 (surround) cables from RXV's Centre Out to Centre speaker. If the Centre speaker works, then cables are ok.
2) Check speakers - Connect each Surround speaker to RXV's Centre out. If it works Speakers are ok.
3) Check RXV - Set it on DTS or Dolby Digital
Connect RXV's surround out (one at a time) L and R to the Centre speaker. If there is no sound, the problem could be RXV's settings (I need to read the manual).

Hope this helps.

Can you hear sound via the headphone socket? If you cannot then the main amp has failed. If you can hear the sound, then the headphone socket could be faulty.

No sound on right side speakers on A&B.Sound does work in test mode. Right side Chanel is working, just no sound on right side front in all input modes. I'm a amateur when it comes to stereos.

Go to "menu/Setup/Speaker level" and adjust the balance of L-R.See page 21 of the manual:

Only one side speakers are working...is it a fuse?

Not unless your speaker is has fused input protection. if no speaker will produce any sound, it may be the output transistors. Make sure the balance is balanced, and correct polarity. Get an RA(return authorization) for the Yamaha USA Repair center if you can't fiqure it out. The do good work for reasonable rates.
Sorry I couldn't make it easy for ya.

Trying to hook up a velodyne dd 12 sub to the unit. Please direct me to the correct way to do this

I have the same setup. Use 1 pair (Left/Right) RCA to RCA cable. Connect from Velodyne "Input" (left connectors) to Yamaha SubWoofer #1 Preamp output. Make sure you have the sub's volume (left knob from back) very low (full counter clockwise is "Min") until you are setting up the audio balance in your house/room. Set Low Pass cross over to 80Hz, Phase switch to 0, subsonic to 20Hz, X-over to "IN", Power to "auto"
On Yamaha RXV1 remote control, go into speaker setup and turn on Sub and any other speakers you have connected.
Warning!! do not turn up volume near a china cabinet while you are watching a movie. Everything will walk off the shelf.

Power on ok problem no sound !all transitor ok

Check this out. It is the most common problem I have found with these units. Along the lower left of the front panel the controls go from left to right Bass, Treble, Balance. Then Speaker A button and Speaker B button. Sometimes the speaker buttons get "unpressed". No joke, Check them out first.
If not. Then look for a short (even a frayed single conductor) in the speaker wires. On this model, it will shut down the output completely.
Hope this helps,
Best,
Mark
