The most likely culprit is the heating element. Most of the time with a close visual inspection you will find a burn spot on the element. If that is not the concern, unplug the unit for safety, then unplug the heating element and using an ohm meter you can test the element. Of course you need to do a visual inspection of the wiring as you access it. If the problem is not found yet it will be time to disassemble the door and start testing the computer. I do recommend an authorized repair company do the work depending on your experience.

Over the last couple months the touch pads have stopped working and I am now down to one control the water miser!
Do I need a new control pad and is that easy to install ?

Remove the controller from the top of the door. Extract the main PCB from the plastic case. You will probably see a burn mark on the inside of the case adjacent to the relay on the back of the PCB. Examine the back of the PCB for burn marks around the relay pins. Resolder the relay and any damaged track.

I followed some of the good instructions already on Fixya. I had checked the heater and it was o.k. I then took the front door of the washer apart to get at the control box. Sure enough, I also had the common design fault. One leg of the rely had scorch marks and was now disconnected from the circuit board. I will solder tonight and test. I include a photo of the burned board. TNoel P
