They just pull off. Slip a wide blade screwdriver or a couple of blunt butter knives under the edge and lever towards you.

Buzzer is dead. As long as the lights don't stay on, keep driving. Buzzers are annoying anyway.

The oil does not circulate or lubricat anything. It just holds heat. No harm done.

these type of appliances are made very fragile the slightest jar could cause this. It is most likely the tip safty switch or thermal protection switch. you can not access either from outside the unit. I wouldn't suggest taking it apart. the part will be hard to get and cost too much. just get rid of it and get a new one.
