I have a Frigidaire Electrolux Side by Side FRS26KR4CW1. The Fresh Food box is not getting below 50 degrees F. I went through the manual defrost regimen and there is no change. The freezer fan motor seems to be surging up and down in speed and little cold air pressure can be felt at the damper in the fresh food side?

You're frozen up. Defrost completely. Then, clean your condenser. Make sure to never leave open containers in the fridge...water condenses into ice. If you still have problems, you may be low on gas.

i would take the back freezer panel off and see what kind of frost pattern your coils have.they may be frosted over and the begining of a defrost problem.

Hi!
First of all you need to clean the coils (condenser coils under the unit or evaporator coils inside the freezer). The coils inside could be iced over because of failure of defrost system. Now check that the condenser fan under the fridge is working properly. Check that the fan in the freezer work which pulls cold air from the coils inside freezer and blows it to the fridge side. Are the temperature control knobs in the fridge adjusted correctly? It actually just opens a vent to let more or less cold air in from the freezer. It takes a while for the ice to build up in the freezer enough to affect the cooling.
My first guess would be the defrost timer. You can manually turn it to engage the defrost cycle and observe whether or not the defrost heaters come on. Now use a hair dryer to speed up melting the ice when there is lots of ice buildup. Most timers are 24 hour timers. It will turn the defroster on every 6 or maybe 12 hours depending on the model.
Before testing the defrost heater, unplug the refrigerator to avoid an electrical shock hazard.
The defrost heater is usually located at the back of a side by side freezer or under the floor of a top freezer. It will be necessary to remove obstructions such as the contents of the freezer, freezer shelves, icemaker and the inside rear or bottom panel of the freezer.
The heater is connected by two wires. The wires are connected with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If the connectors are corroded they should be replaced.

Find the return air It can't come in if it can't get out. also if you were checking it with the freezer door open you will not feel the air. Just in case i have done that myself. if all air ducts are open and it's getting o I should be 20 in fresh food with the control on 9.

Your model will and may take extensive diagnostics. You know there is no simple answer to this question and I will not guess. Do you have the sevice manual availible? I do if you need but from the length of your message it appears to me that you want and will need help. Let me know, Sea Breeze
Good Afternoon bernarddunbar, thanks for your post!
From the information you have provided your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying a "4" on the control panel. A "4" means that you could have a faulty damper. I would recommend checking the damper, which is located in the upper rear of the fresh food side, to assure that air is passing through it. If you do not feel air it could be blocked of frozen. I would then suggest checking the freezer to make sure there is no build-up of ice or food blockage. If you locate ice build-up you may need to perform a manual defrost on your refrigerator to assure proper air circulation. If food is blocking the damper you may need to rearrange food. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt
Hey friend, thank you for your inquiry!
I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is not cooling within the fresh food side but cooling in the freezer. I would check to assure that the vent assembly is not blocked by any food, if so remove the food and allow your refrigerator to cool down.
If there is no food blocking the vent place your hand in the fresh food side to see if any air is moving out of the damper. If you do not feel air coming out it could be an issue with your evaporator fan. Additionally we should check to make sure the gaskets are not bad. You can do that by using a dollar bill. Place the bill between the body of the fresh food and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check to see if the door is being blocked by anything stopping it from closing it. If nothing is stopping the door from closing then replace the gasket. I hope this information has been helpful. - Matt
Hello friend, thanks for your post!
I see your Frigidaire refrigerator is not freezing in the freezer section but keeping your fresh food side cool. Some possibilities could be your refrigerator stuck in defrost mode, the control panel, or sealed system. I would recommend performing a reset on your appliance which would be flipping your household circuit breaker off for ten minutes. If that does not resolve your issue I would seek assistance from a professional to properly diagnose and repair your appliance. -Matt
