SOURCE: generator runs producing no power

Hi, remove the electric control panel & check the wiring as sometimes we have seen the wires coming off the voltage change over switches.
Also some of these units you can check the connections in the rear of the alternator & if it has brushes that they are not stuck.
Another problem we have had is the trip switches have went faulty but still switch operates ok, they need to be checked with a probe type tester for conductivety.

SOURCE: Generator stopped producing electricity

if the generator has been sitting for a while you might have to excite the magnets to start producing power. plug in a reversible drill and with the generator running turn the drill in the reverse direction by hand while holding the trigger in the forward position.

SOURCE: Lombardini diesel generator starts and runs fine but no elecpower

remove the covering panel and expose the internals , check for loose/disscontected push on ( lucar ) connectors , if these are fine it is most likely the excitation capacitor is deffective , replace with exactly the same value/voltage rating/duty cycle . the capacitor is usual 1 or up to 3 cylindrical tubes with 2 wires comming from them , always take a note of exactly what wires you have taken off :) hope this helps

Need a Honda eb2500x generator service manual Runs but doesn't produce power circuit breaker is closed

Check if you have power on each leg, l1 and l2 coming off the stator before the breaker. If you have only one leg then the stator is suspevt. if you have zero, check stator resisitance and shorts to ground, rotor the same, and voltage regulator and or capacitor

Do I need a main breaker in front of a manual transfer switch

To be code compliant, I'm sure you do. The transfer switch transfers between 2 power sources, usually the electric utility and a generator. Both sources connect to the transfer switch and you select which one provides power to each circuit. The main breaker provides circuit protection to the internal wiring regardless of where the power is coming from. Even if the transfer switch has circuit breakers, there should be a main breaker which can cut off all power to a circuit, or one circuit in an emergency. In addition, unless all your circuits are on the transfer switch, the main breaker is absolutely necessary.

Sparking in power box when we use the generator and trips the braker

When you say "power box" do you mean the main breaker box in your house? Is the generator hooked up to the breaker that you say trips when the generator is on? There is a short somewhere. First check the generator. Is it running OK. In other words if you plug something into the generator receptacle directly, does it work? If the generator itself works properly, then check the wiring from the generator to the circuit breaker. DO NOT use the generator until the problem solved = safety first.
