You can run it, yes, but it will have much lower water pressure and may not clean adequately.

SOURCE: dishwasher leaves residue in top rack only

Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough water. It could be cause of the switch level, which control water level in the tub. The switch level is usually a diaphragm device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. I am not familiar with your machine, but if you will open the rear panel you will find it easily. Be aware you should discoonect the power cable !!! Clear the tube (attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub) from any obstruction. In case it will not solve the problem, you should replace the switch. Good luck !

SOURCE: dishwasher pump will drain but not force water into spray arms

If the washer is not used regularly the shaft can stick to the seals and prevent the motor from spinning. This happens quite regularly for me if I don't use the washer often. You can just take off the bottom panel - after shutting off power to the dishwasher - and access the motor. you should see some fins and then just try to spin the motor by hand. It usually takes about 90 degrees of rotation before the motor breaks free from the seal. You'll have to fight through the spring-like resistance created by the seal-shaft adhesion. After it breaks free the motor spins freely and you should be all set to go. I haven't found a more permanent fix for this other than running the dishwasher more regularly.

SOURCE: Dishwasher spray arms don't spin & spray water

Could be a a couple different issues.. Not filling with enough water or food chopper broke or food chopper filter screen clogged.

Check water level:
Run the DW and wait for the main wash to start (water will fill. pause then complete fill) The water should be no more than 1/4 inch below the heating element. If not there..replace water inlet valve.

Inspect food chopper:
1. Remove lower spray arm and rear water supply tube to upper spray arm.
2. Remove torx screws that secure the sump cover.
3. Remove primary filter
4. Remove food chopper cover to expose the chopper assembly. Inspect for breakage or blockage.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher - top rack arm not spinning

Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.

I wish all appliance fixes were this easy...!

SOURCE: Spray Arm Doesn't Move on my GSD5630d01ww!

When you say the dishwasher is running do you mean that the pump is operating?  If the pump is not pumping water the arm will not spin.  Is there a bottom arm and is it spinning?  If it spins then the pump is working. The upper arm will not spin if it is blocked by hitting a large dish or utensil.  There should be some sort of tube or tower (some are collapsible) in the center of the lower rack that shoots water into the bottom of the spin arm above.   Is it missing, blocked or clogged?

Why is the spray arm in my frigidaire dishwasher not raising all the way and dishes on the top rack are not getting clean?

Good Afternoon Stephanie,

I understand the spray arm is not raising all the way in your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FDB750RCC. I also see that the dishes on the top rack are not getting clean due to this. The spray arms are stationary where they are attached to, other than turning due to water pressure. Please try the following solutions:

• Choose another cycle for longer washing time.
• Check rack loading section for proper loading-avoid nesting items.
• Home water pressure may be too low- should be 20 to 120 pounds per square inch (psi).
• Check incoming water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F.
• Select HI-TEMP WASH option.
• Check water hardness. For extremely hard water, it may be necessary to install a water softener.
• Use fresh detergent.
• Check to make sure funnel in top rack is not blocked.
• Make sure items are not blocking the spray arms, preventing them from rotating.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Why are my top rack dishes not clean at all?

It is likely that sufficient water is not coming from the top arm. These dishwashers oscillate the water flow between top and bottoms sprays alternatively. This ensures water is pumped with adequate force. It is possible this mechanism is not working correctly. The device called check ball item 58 in this diagram actually does this function. The ball might be out of shape or not sitting properly causing incorrect wash water movement.

How do you fit the upper spray arm to the back of the dishwasher

The upper spray arm does not fit on the back of the dishwasher. There is a separate "Extra Tall Item Sprinkler" piece (about a 3-4" round gray piece that looks like a shower head) that mounts in the back of the dw.
Note that this option is only to be used with the top rack removed (i.e., for washing tall items in the lower rack). Refer to page 37 of the Use & Care Manual that came with your dishwasher.

Only washing top rack

After observing the water just gushing out when the spray arm was removed, we determined there was still a bunch more calcification/soap in the ends of the spray arm. (We have very hard water in our area). Unfortunately, you cannot open up the spray arms to clean them out, so it took about 30 minutes of pounding and manipulating to get all the gunk out. Now my dishes are clean again. Hallelujeh! And the water cleaning the dishes is cleaner, as well.

An extra part inside the dishwasher

I have a Bosch dishwasher with the same "mystery" part. According to my manual, this part is an Extra Tall Item Sprinkler (select models). Apparently, if you are loading in extra tall items, you take out the top rack and insert this part into the top rack spray outlet (located a the back of the dishwasher). Turn it clockwise to lock it into position. Put your extra tall items in the bottom rack. Hope this helps!

My Bosch dishwasher model #SHU43C05UC/14 drains well and has enough water(I replaced the inlet water valve already),but not washing the dishes clean especially the top rack. What could be wrong?

open machine when running and check both spray arms rotating - you will get a bit of water out. if spray arms not rotating, usual cause is debris in the arms. the spray arms only rotate by water jetting from angled jets at the end of the arms. take them out and make sure all debris removed

Top arm not spinning

only the top rack isnt getting clean?
there is a little plastic circle in the middle of the bottom of the upper spray arm. turn it counter clock wise to pull the upper spray arm from the upper rack. make sure that isnt clogged and the spray holes are not clogged. otherwise....

the piece that the bottem spray arm plugs into and runs along the back wall of the tank to the top is called a feed tube. pull the bottom spray arm out. now you can see the part of the feed tube that feeds the upper spray arm water. does it pop out freely and easily? if so then you need a new feed tube, if not then its most likely your not achieving the right water level or your impeller connected to your circulation pump(motor) is clogged not supplying enough water pressure to travel up the feed tube to spin the upper spray arm.
