Ibm thinkpad t43
The t43 is an older model. The original operating system is most likely Windows XP. Assuming it still has the original hard drive with built in recovery partition; power off the computer, then hold the blue "thinkvantage" down while power on. This will cause the computer to boot into a special recovery mode. Follow the instructions to restore the operating system to factory reset. This will restore the system to the original operating system, even if the operating system had been upgraded.
You're wrong that is not reset it is format.. Take to any windows dvd like windows 7, 8, 10. And install in reboot with the settings of BIOS and follow instructions..
SOURCE: Is there a way to master reset the IBM T43 Thinkpad
No it's not possible to do it with just a button or replace it to factory settings.
The T43 Comes with WinXP or OS/2 Warp or Windows 2000 Pro.
If you wanted to reset it you basically would have to format the harddrive.
You can get a older version of WinXP which is still supported by microsoft or either that you can format it and sell it without a operating system.
Or you can add/remove items you installed and remove personal info delete pretty items much within windows itself.

Are you sure you have a wire card installed? If so, then try this:
Note:
If the card has a exclamation mark over a yellow background, then this
is an indication that the card is experiencing a problem. Go to Driver
download step 5.
It is possible to disable the transmitter of the wireless card without Device Manager showing any problems.
Note: Follow the instructions provided to enable wireless card.
If you double-click the previously mentioned system tray icon, the
configuration utility of the wireless card will appear. This utility
will be able to show the status of the wireless card, showing what
channel the card is using and what signal strength is being received.
It may be difficult to maintain a connection if signal strength is low
due to either interference or distance. For example, interference can
be caused by 2.4GHz cordless phones, other Access Points in the area,
and physical structures such as load bearing walls or metal partitions.
Note:
The utility can be used to configure the wireless card settings, but if
using Windows XP Zero Configuration or Access Connections, you will
need to use those programs to actually configure the wireless card as
they will overwrite the setting of the utility.
