My HP Officejet 6000 just decided to stop printing black ink a few weeks ago. I have reset the printer, changed the black ink cartridge, cleaned the contacts and ran the printhead cleaner more that 3 cycles, I also replaced the printhead. Do you have any other suggestions before I throw it in garbage? Anna
Check whether there is a wet ink inthe ink pad at the bottom of the head. If not the gear in the link flush section may not working properly.
Try taking out the printhead and let it soak in "window cleaning" solution overnight or for about 8 hours. It should unclog the printhead nozzle. Put it in about half inch of the solution. It always worked for me. Make sure you wipe it dry un the back of the printhead when putting back into the printer.

HP, in order to sell more ink, monitors the expiration date of the cartridges installed. Solution is either to buy a new unexpired cartridge from HP or to disable the date monitoring built in to the printer. This latter is done by removing the button cell located inside the D135 printer on the left hand side or by simply slipping a thin piece of plastic between button cell and metal contact. You will no longer have date function on printer, but it won't object to expired cartridges either.

Turn off the device after removing the printhead
After removing the printhead, turn off the device, wait about 20 seconds, and turn it on again without the printhead installed. After it has restarted, reinsert the printhead.
it will go through this long routine of perhaps 20 min or so. after its compleate it should print great.
