Turn the function knob to Auto Off
Hold down the hour button til you see the clock display blinking
you can then use the Hour and Minute buttons to program how long you want the coffee maker to stay on.
You can choose from 0 minutes (seems to be what you have it set on now) to 4 hours.

Replacement time. a certain percentage of thse have this problem. There is a small, non-replaceable tube in the inside toward the bottom that has become melted/damaged.

Hello jimmarsh,
You are right, there is a way to fix this. This is really a common problem with this unit that is fixable.
I recently had this similar problem. If you still have your machine try the following.
Your described problem may be one of two problems. Let's start with the easier solution first. In the DCC 1200 there is a filter "stick or column" in the left rear. Pull it out and remove the clogged carbon filter(s) that are in there. Shine a light into the receptacle and remove the debris in the bottom. It is likely that this is causing the problem with you machine needing to be started on multiple times. See if this solution works. If it does, you might run 8 cups of water and 4 cups of vinegar through to help decalcify the units plumbing. Do this once or twice and then rinse with at least one pot run-through of clean water. If this works then you are good to go.
Next, if this does not solve your problem we can do the following: unplug the unit and lay it on its back. You will need a #10 torx driver (hardware store if you don't have one) to remove the bottom cover plate. There are 4 torx screws holding it on. When removed, you will find 2 orange hoses. Carefully attempt to remove the left hose without splitting. I used an eyeglass screwdriver to loosen it up. If it splits, just cut off the split and stretch it to reconnect when time comes. As you look into the hose you will find a little black valve inside as well a some gunk. Clean it all out with a fine wire as best you can. Rinse well. Attempt to reconnect the hose back onto the pipe. Slip the pipe clamp back into place. Replace the cover and screws and you should be good to go again. This is not as daunting as it may seem. You can do it. :o) Good luck! If this answer helps, please leave positive feedback for me. Much appreciated. Regards, NormanZ

Program light and time flash once per second

Here's the link to the user manual if you need it; http://www.cuisinart.com/share/man/34_man.pdf The water filter should be fine - if not it should be obvious to the eye that it is blocked/restricted - hold it up to the light. Try running through the descaling procedure in the manual if you havent recently - if it doesnt let you run a cycle, try it overnight without running it, and see if it will let you run a vinegar cycle in the morning. Try and pour vinegar into all the parts you can where it would go if a cycle was able to be run. If that doesn't get it running, check that none of the program/time setting features are still on - they should turn off after a few seconds, but maybe it is stuck in "time set" mode or similar. If none of the actions in the manual change the setting, try unplugging the unit and leaving it for at least half an hour unplugged, then hold down the power button when you plug it back in - this should reset the machine. If the reset doesn't work, it sounds like you have a control board fault - best solution is to contact cuisinart; http://www.cuisinart.com/contact/ Hope this helps :)

Ss-700 keeps flashin Not Ready

I had the flashing not ready problem with my SS-700 Cuisinart as well. I pressed and held the rinse and Hot Water buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds while the Not Ready was flashing. After 10 sec or so the display went off completely. I then powered up with the power switch on the side and the coffee maker came and is working fine so far.

what exactly is it doing or not doing ??? any lights come on when you attempt to use it. chances are it just needs to be reset (unplug it for about ten minutes then plug it back in).
