SOURCE: awa dvd recorder dr711 can this be connected to a set top box

If it's like the DR620 it will only receive analogue from the TV aerial. I connect the AV out connections on my set box to the inlet AV on the recorder and watch and record through the recorder's "rear AV input" selection.

How can I turn off subtitles on TCL have tried everything including factory reset

What is the signal source? The TV subtitle control will only work for OTA channels (RF) and possibly native apps. For a Roku TCL TV, go to Settings from the Home Page. This should put you in the Options configuration display. Select Accessibility and press OK. Navigate to Captions Mode and set to OFF. Then click OK to save the setting.

If your source is a set-top box of any sort (cable/satellite box, DVD Player, etc), you have to turn off the subtitles from the box's remote/menu. Depending on the device, this could be easy or hard. One of my neighbors had a single satellite box for two TVs and needed captions on the second set. That meant turning on captions on both sets using the menus on the main TV. On my current set-top box, I have to go to Menu > Settings. Then I enter a code from my provider to access the menu and enter the Hardware settings. On this box, the captions control is under the Audio settings.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information on your source if you need help changing the subtitles on a specific streaming service or set-top box.

How to turn television to Channel 3 please?

Question edited to remove funky punctuation and Caps use.

Your channels come from a set top box, cable, satellite, over air signal. Press 3 or scroll up the channel list on the remote for that device, NOT the television. The exception would be if you have programmed the television remote or the set top box to control channels. The easy way is to use the remote for the set top box only. you television stays on the HDMI input for the set top box.

Tv wont tne in to ch9 why iam getting all the other channels

If you are using an antenna to receive broadcast TV you may have to rescan to add channel 9 back into the TV's channel list. If this does not work, it may be seasonal or a weak signal from your channel 9 broadcaster. I use a signal booster on my antenna (purchased at Radio Shack..)

CANNOT GET PHILIPS DVDR3305 TO RECORD ON PANASONIC TV.TX-L37D25B WHILE WATCHING ANOTHER CHANNEL?.

What is your source? Since the DVDR3305 has an analog PAL tuner and most TV stations are broadcasting in digital, you probably have some sort of set top box connected to the recorder. If you change the channel on the set top box, you will record the program on the new channel. If you are recording PAL and your TV has a PAL tuner, you should be able to just record one show while watching another with the DVDR3305 daisy-chained to the TV. Just make sure to change the TV channel not the channel on the DVDR3305.

If your TV has a digital tuner, you can split the signal before the set-top box to record one channel and watch another. (Note: basic splitters will cause some extra loss of signal and may reduce a digital signal below the threshold needed to tune in the signal. An amplified splitter can avoid this - when the amplifier is working properly.) Otherwise, you need a second set-top box (or a dual tuner set-top box).

On my set-up with an aerial antenna, I would put the splitter between the wall jack and the electronics. The incoming cable goes to the splitter, then cable 1 goes to the TV. Cable 2 goes to the set-top box. Tune the set-top box to the channel to record and check the settings with the TV set to the DVD source. (DVD set to record on Tuner (and the specific channel of the set-top box output) or front s-video or EXT1 or EXT2.) Then change the TV back to the TV source and change to the channel for the second program.

The manual for the DVDR3305 is available from Philips. The link to the manual is http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dvdr3305_05/dvdr3305_05_dfu_eng.pdf .
I hope this helps.

(I actually use an A/B switch and do not try to watch a second program on the TV connected to the DVD recorder. However, most of my recordings are for time-shifting of programs that air when I can't watch any TV program.)

Hi, Your set top box (PVR) is running on channel 3 or 4. Go to menu and sellect a source TV, DVD
Note: Do not connect more than 1 set of cables to tv or you may damage something.
TV > box connect RCA cable or HDMI not both.
Set top box > connect RCA or HDMI Not both.
audio devices > TV connect RCA or HDMI not both.

I can't get all the channels on my set top box.

Thanks for working with me to solve your problem. The reason you cannot watch those channels on this TV is because you are using an incorrect connection between the set-top box and the TV. A co-axial cable cannot carry an HD signal.

You will need to connect your set-top box to your TV with one of the following cable types.

1. HDMI
2. Component A/V
3. S-Video with separate audio cables.

You will need to check which sockets you have available on both the set-top box and the TV to determine which cable you should use.

Following this, you may also need to run the channel scan again. They should already be tuned, but currently you are not able to watch them. The correct channel numbers for these stations will depend on your region.

If you have any questions or need any further assistance, please let me know.

My set top box will no longer pick up certain channels such as itv and channel 4 stations !!

My set top box has setup menu, channels, autoscan to scan for channels. They changed some of the channels here after the original switch to digital, and a fresh autoscan was needed to again find the channels that moved. See if your box has autoscan for channels, and do it.

Wireless doesn't work

Hi Friend,
Kindly check the below given instructions,

To access the WIRELESS (WLAN) settings window, click on the Wireless Setup button in the SETUP directory.

WIRELESS NETWORK SETTINGS

1.Click on the Enable Wireless box to allow the router to operate in the
wireless environment.

2.The SSID identifies members of the Service Set. Accept the default
name or change it to something else. If the default SSID is changed, all
other devices on the wireless network must also use the same SSID.

3.Enable Auto Channel Scan so that the router can select the best
possible channel for your wireless network to operate on.

4.The Wireless Channel can let you select the channel of your access
point. Channel availability is different for different countries due to their
regulation.

5.Select 802.11 Mode to operate in b/g/n mode. Or select specified mode
to use.

6.Channel Width, Maximum rate for 20 MHz is 130 Mbps. Maximum rate
for 40 MHz is 270 Mbps.

7.Transmission Rate, suggest keeping the Best (automatic) selection.

8.Click on the Hide Wireless Network box to allow the router to stop broadcasting its SSID.

WIRELESS SECURITY WIZARD

1.Click on the Security My Wireless Network button to enter the
2.SECURE MY WIRELESS NETWORK window.

SECURE MY WIRELESS NETWORK
1.Input the SSID.
2.Select the Wireless Channel.
3.Select the Encryption type. WPA-PSK is more secure than WEP 64 bit.
4.Click on the Apply Settings button to apply the settings

WIRELESS SECURITY MODE - WEP

1.WEP (Wireless Encryption Protocol) encryption can be enabled for
security and privacy. WEP encrypts the data portion of each frame
transmitted from the wireless adapter using one of the predefined keys.

2.The router offers 64 or 128 bit encryption with four keys available.
Select WEP Key Length from the drop-down menu. (128 bit is stronger
than 64 bit)

3.Specify the encryption key from the Current Network Key drop-down
menu.

4.Enter the key into the WEP Key field 1~4. (Key length is outlined at the
bottom of the window.)

5.Select Authentication type from the drop-down menu. (Shared is
better than Open)

6.Click on the Apply Settings button to apply settings.

Check and revert back

When you go to your routner and put in username and password, the boxes that are a "lot of stuff" has a tab on the top HOME being one of them, and a tab down the side WIRELESS being one of them. When you click on WIRELESS, you should see a screen that has a box marked Enabled or Disabled. Check ENABLED. Give your SSID a descriptive name like Eagleye and (optionally) turn on WEP. I tend to give all of mine 1011121314 as the 64 bit encryption so I never forget it.

Save your settings and your SSID name should show up on wireless devices. If it doesn't, then click on ADVANCED and PERFORMANCE tabs and make sure the SSID is enabled. Keep in mind that you can also DISABLE SSID and set up all your wireless devices by keying the SSID the same as the one you gave it. Then you don't have to use WEP and it will improve your wirless performance.

Here's a link to the 514 manual if you need to ask other questions. This is for a rev C, but you can step back into the website for an A or B model. Most notably, check out the WEP and SSID FAQ tabs.
