Not enough information... when the tv is on standby then there should be a led on...what happens when on is pushed...is the light then flashing or remains the same...starting point is to check the powersupply rails... a circuit would be helpfull. This tv is an old CRT type which would have a b+ rail of aprox 150v and how that rail is set up is important (feedback and protection may shut down the rail)

What voltage is present at the collector of the horizontal output transister? If the same 102 volts then you have no horizontal drive.

there should be some buttons provided on the dash board of your tv... just enter the menu using those buttons n reset it back to the original settings
SOURCE: Tivo remote code for Daewoo Tv
I own a One-for-All universal remote (model URC-4220), and my booklet says the setup code for a Daewoo TV is one of the following numbers: 0092, 0451, 0672, 1661, 1278.
If these numbers do not work, I would consider buying a newer universal remote. They can be bought at Walmart, for less than 10 dollars.
Hope these suggestions help you out. Please take a moment to rate the info that I have provided, by using the rating system below. Thanks.

Sounds like your closed caption may be on and here is how to turn it off..
1. Press the menu button until you get to the "SPECIAL" menu.
2. Make sure that Closed Caption and CC on mute are both set to OFF.
This should make that black box go away...
Good Luck and please rate this solution...
