Your needle could be bent.Trying changing your needle and move the hand wheel by hand to see if it still hits. If it does, the hook timing could be out.

SOURCE: I have the Scandia probably 5 yrs old...feed dog

The feed dog motor needs re-calibrating. If recalibrating does not resolve the problem, the feed dog stepper motor may need to be replaced. These tasks have to be done by a certified Husqvarna Viking service technician. Suggest that you take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Good luck.

SOURCE: Needle moves up and & down and sews for a few

If you look at the website, www.sewvacdoctor.com and you can see, they say it may be your foot pedal or transducer(speed control inside the machine) I would call Singer and see if it is still under warranty, hopefully it is. If it is the foot controller, that is not too expensive, I don't know about the transducer. But, call Singer at -800-4singer and tell them what is happening. Good luck

Try 20% pressure on treadle that should release the pressure enough to turn wheel

Sews 1/4" and then sews in place

1) remove upper and bottom threads. Try sew without threads.
Is fabric transported corectly?

NO:
- Drop feed dog button is OFF
- Dust under stitch plate
- Transporter malfunction (must be taken for a service to the BERNINA dealer)

YES:
- Upper or bottom thread jammed
- The upper thread tension is too tight.
- Wrong needle used (probably small ...)

I have a Pfaff Creative 1475 CD. It only skips stitches on stretch materials. I have tried a ballpoint and stretch needle and it still skips stitches. It sews a 100% correctly on any other type of...

There are a couple things you can do that may help. 1. Float some lightweight paper under the fabric. Sew through the material and the paper. Then tear away the paper.

Secondly make sure you are using a long enough stitch.

If none of these things work.... take it in and have an example of the skipping. Have the machine's timing checked.

HELP PLEASE!!

I am slightly familiar with older sewing machines but not modern machines. It is a long time since I've seen my machines.

If your presser foot has a wide slot it is clearly possible to use it for zig-zag sewing. If the machine is capable of zig-zag or swing needle sewing, it is sometimes possible to swing the needle and fix it to the left or right and fix it in that position.

I suggest you check in your machine instruction manual. Perhaps the presser foot you are using is unsuitable for your machine...

My Fashion Mate 6160 beeped and stopped sewing & automatic threader doesnt work

if the machine still sews a straight stitch on top of fabric & also on bottom then it should be fine..
it's possible that the thick fabric, needle, & thread were not a compatable combination.
but also some sewing machine are not made to sew thick or heavy
fabric
but having the machine serviced would be a good idea & help to know why the needle thread is not working

Machine stops sewing when I hit a thickness

it may be that your motor belt needs tighening or the belt may be damaged - you can check belt and adjust tension yourself once side cover is removed.

if you are sewing thick seams and the needle is resting on the seam as you begin to sew you may have to help the machine to get started. if the fabric is not thick it must be belt tension.
