The if this screen looks good for hours on end., the Hardware is mostly ok.

The CPU self shuts down at 90C, by the magic of Intel Inside.

I have the same problem. I called tech support 1-866-726-3475 and they talked me thru several cures. None of which worked. My unit is about 8 months old. After trying all the options, they gave me a rma number and are sending me a replacement. I think they have had some trouble with this lot of players, they were very nice and it took no prodding from me for a replacement! Good Luck1

The freeze ups normally happen before the red lights of doom and they are caused by the GPU and the CPU getting too hot and the soldering snaps off so they lose connection.
If you stop the heat build up you will be fine.
You can do this yourself using a good repair guide or you can send it in and they will fix it for you.

Take the protective cover back off then try resetting it if needed. If the cover is not the right size or isn;t on in the right place it will do this. Usually it will just be one corner that gets stuck under the frame edge and then the digitizer pad thinks that you are holding down the stylus there and locks up after a while. Or it flips pages and so on.
