TV Connectivity
The issue of connectivity between the PS3 and the display is very complex and depends on the type of TV (Analog, Digital or HD Ready), the maker of TV (until recently, only Toshiba TVs have component AV connections as standard in Europe, most other Euro TV sets use SCART which can not carry an HD signal) and specification of TV (the very latest HD Ready TV sets have wider connectivity options than earlier HD "capable" TVs from the same manufacturer which may have lacked HDMI), and finally the configuration of the PS3 model purchased.

Struggling to get any sound to play from my durabrand HT-400 surround system. I have a 55 inch tcl Roku smart TV all I'm trying to do is basic 2.0 sound output from my TV through the durabrand receiver....

In my experience on modern TV's they do not have stereo audio output sockets any more. You might be mistaking them for some other sockets, used to connect video cameras or projectors.
The only sound outputs would either be the optical or HDMI connectors on the TV.

I would like to connect my DVD player and Foxtel to me tcl smart tv but have no idea how it do it. Can somebody please help me.

depends on the output from Foxtel
is it antenna rf coaxial on foxtel ?
is it hdmi output on foxtel box ?
is it an AV RCA cable output on foxtel box ?
what does dvd player use for its output ?
Suggest you google these connection interface types and work out what is the output types
if rca then use av input on tv
is hdmi then use hdmi input on tv
then use select input source on tv to switch to whatever you used.

How to connect my hdtv to surround for audio

It looks like from my searching you have an optical link on your tv and your reciver. You should just have to choose that as your output on the tv and your input on the reciver. It should be labled something like spdif. In my opinion it is the best cable ever until hdmi came out now its still really good.

How to connect my tv to optical outlet

What audio-outputs does your TV have? SPDIF? 3.5 millimeter stereo-jack? White/Red RCA "post-and-collar" sockets?

What inputs does the sound bar have? (Same choices as above.)

Note that you might need a 3.5mm to stereo-RCA cable.

I am getting no sound from my Samsung Blu ray and it is not the mute button. What else could be wrong?

Have you had a look in the menus assocated with the sound then goto additional settings then select SPDIF then try selecting PCM instead of any other setting here if that doesn't work what about getting a SOUNDBAR and using a TOSLINK cable to connect the optical output on the TV to the SOUNDBAR and make sure that the power lead is plugged in and plugged into a mains socket and turned on then you should have sound if that doesn't work then go back into sount->additional settings->SPDIF then select a setting that shows up after connecting the tv to the sound bar and and hit enter then return return return and you should have sound. It is not likely that the problem is in your Bul-ray player just to see try it in some other TV or it might be the cable it's self don't use a skinney HDMI cable but a thick HDMI cable as some cables don't have all connections.

Sound output through hdmi

DVI is "Digital Video Interface". No Audio is transferred through this type of connection - even if one end of the cable is HDMI.

BEST solution would be to purchase a video card with HDMI output.

Alternate solution would be to run audio from rear audio jack to TV (assuming you have an input on the TV that will accept it)
