Several of today's battery charges are so called smart chargers but tend to be more of a pain. If you are hooking up your charger while still in vehicle make sure key is off and out of car, doors are closed and under hood light is unplugged. Reason being if there is the least amount of draw from the battery the so called smart charger wont charge. If you have done all of this take the negative ground off battery before charging, if this works then you have something in your auto wiring pulling power. Aka a short.

You can not use the USB cable to charge the unit. Bad News is these are Sanyo parts only you will have to call Sanyo.

the transformers of these chargers have whats called a thermal fuse....usually this fuse is wired inside the transformer itself....it is designed so that in case of excessive overloads or high temperature, the fuse will blow...this is to protect your home wiring from overheating and possibly catching fire.......it is a safety feature....by touching the cables together even for a moment caused an extreme overload condition which probably took the fuse out....you can still fix it but you need to open a few layers of the transformers wrapping to get access to the fuse.....some systems have other components called NTC's or PTC's....these are also temperature safety components.....chances of the regulating components going bad ae slim because their capacities are designed for high power, high temp conditions so chances are that only the fuse is gone....good luck

try this:
JUMP STARTING A BLACKBERRY
1. Plug wall charger into
wall and then plug into blackberry
2. Take off back cover and pull the battery out (while it is plugged in
still)
3. Wait 30 seconds. The red LED may remain on (tech said it didn't
matter).
4. Put the battery back in and wait about 5-10 seconds and it'll begin to boot
up (white screen with clock icon).
