SOURCE: The hot water recirc pump in my new house was

1) Open link below so we are talking about same type of household system
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

2) 15 minute interval is misleading.
Pins located on timer dial divide 24-hour day into 15 minute intervals.
You set timer pins and decide which 15 minute intervals you want ON-or-OFF. Do this by moving pins inward or outward with your thumb or ink pen. To check settings, manually rotate timer dial clockwise and listen for pump turning on-off..
Set timer pins for 4 consecutive 15 minute intervals, then timer runs for 1 hour.
After pins are set, then manually rotate dial to set current time.
Dial rotates as time passes, and pins click a lever that turns pump on-off.

3) 5-year Life span. Like all things plumbing, if you have hard water or sand-n-dirt in water lines, then pipes clog. And pumps clog.
Once motor begins to slow down, it overheats and burns out.
Water softener can keep sediment out of lines, but shortens life of water heater.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Clean-sediment-out-of-water-heater.html

4) Real question: do you need a circulation pump? Do you need hot water at your faucet? Can you schedule hot water use, or does recirculation pump have to run several hours per day?
Recirculation pumps causes water heater to run more, the pump consumes 25+ watts depending on pump, and water savings claims of 15,000 gallons per year are fabrication.
Realistic water savings is 700-2000 gallons per year, assuming several folks in the home use water sporadically across a full day, and each time water is used people are waiting for hot water. It also assumes that you never want cold water at the tap and that refrigeration ice maker line prefers hot water to cold.

SOURCE: Hot tub keeps running all

If the system is the Jacuzzi 52221-05 system mentioned in the subject header, there could be a stuck relay causing the problem and you might need to get a spa technician out to assist you in repairing the problem. However...

If it is a Great Lakes system as mentioned in your message body, then there could be a programming issue allowing the filter cycle to run continuously. Provide a model number off of the Balboa control. Then we can provide you an instruction manual or reference card to assist you in resolving this problem. you can also search our online manuals at our website. You can find them online at:

New Navien NPE-240A replaces an older model but new unit will not circulate hot water.

There are 2 settings. One for recirc-ing inside the unit. Switch 1 off and switch 2 on, valve to the left turned to the left under INT . That is to recirc in the unit.
Other
Switch 1 is on and switch 2 is down and the valve to the left is turned to the right next to EXT. That is if you have plumbed in a separate line throughout the home for re-circulation.
It should be fine then.

Furnace problems

It would be great if you could post a picture of the installation and the state you are located in. The sound is sometimes caused when the fuel to air mixture is to lean. If your fresh air pipe is too close to the exhaust it can suck in the exhaust and cause all sorts of problems with combustion. Also, if you are in cold climate and the fresh air pipe is not piped to the outside (on the same wall as the exhaust), you can damage the heat exchanger.

Does eating chocolate late at night keep you from falling asleep?

Chocolate has caffeine in it, but not large amounts so unless you have a caffeine sensitivity, you won't be kept awake by eating chocolate late at night.

Pump started to make a rattling noise after 4 yes of perfect operation.

Pull off the pump and clean it out.
The noise could be sediment build up causing pump rotor to make noise.
Noise could also be bad bearing or bad rotor.
Noise could be air bubbles in the line.
Once pump motor begins to slow, no mater what the cause, it overheats and begins to burn out.
Many times, once a motor has slowed, it never recovers and spirals downhill and stops working.
There are no repair parts for recirculation pumps.
Following page has general information plus links to Grundfos manuals, installation, and contact.

My Malibu light timer gets stuck at the time they are supposed to turn on AND at the time they are supposed to turn off. So if I turn them on manually, they stay on all night...

The small motor that runs the time clock is bad. If it stops the motor when it comes to the start and stop clips, it's done. Replace it.
