F61 - error code. This will trigger if the unit has gone into overload to avoid further damaged to other parts. The common causes of this error code.
1. Output IC - this is the most common caused of the error code. Once shorts happened to this IC, it will trigger the error code. Exposure to high volume and/or running in the long time will caused this IC to shorts and produce an overload.
2. Shorted Speaker - if one of your speakers shorts, error code will appear also. This may isolate by disconnecting the speaker to the set and play the unit *****. If the symptom still there the fault came from the unit itself.
3. Shorted Inputs - inputs connector is also prone to shorts due to frequent bending and pulling. To isolate this from fault, disconnect all the inputs connected to the unit like the aux input, antenna, mic, etc.
4. Faulty power supply - once gone to out-of-regulation condition, the error code will appear to protect the most expensive parts from further damaged.Bad solder joints in this section is also to consider.
5. Faulty Fan and its circuitry - F61 will appear only after a minute of operation not upon powering on the unit. Check the fan if working or not...
Also, check whether your unit is still within the warranty period, because the manufacturer will fix it for free.

F61 tells you its a power source problem according to the manual. to all F61 error it is very likley that the str470-050a reg legs desolderd and have broken away from the main body of the regulator giving you the f61 and shut down.

The F61 error is an amplifier failure. This error can be caused by a blown channel or even a failure in the power supply which causes the unit to detect an amplifier failure because the power supply is not supplying the proper voltage to the amplifier. On more rare occasions this can be caused by broken solder connections in the amplifier and/or power supply. Without having the receiver in front of me to troubleshoot it is impossible to tell you exactly what the cause is.
It can be fixed, but it will require some decent electronic skills. If you do not have a multimeter, soldering equipment, and an understanding of electronic components it would be best to let a service center look at it for you. If you do have these tools and would like to try and fix it yourself, let me know and I may be able to guide you thru the troubleshooting process.

SOURCE: my panasonic SA-AK57 it is displaying error code F61
you need a code 234634
it is wary simple to fix
if the code dosent work the there is
SOURCE: F61 code after a speaker wire touched the chassis and sparked
You have shorted the speaker wores and blown the output amp pac. Depending upon the model, the replacement part varies from $75-$95.I don't have a listing for the SC-HT740, but the cost range should be accurate.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on. Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up. You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it. If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good. If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.
