Possible the thermocouple bulb has slipped out of position and isn't being heated as it should. If it is a model with a pilot light, perhaps it is blocked.

The thermocouple is probably the most likely culprit.

Do you have the serial number or the manufacture date? There are some design changes and I would need to know the year of manufacture to assist accurately. Usually it is a relay or the thermocouple connection that will affect the unit staying lit.

SOURCE: L.P. Propane Heater not staying lit

Sounds like you have a bad gas hold on valve. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4258201-fix_gas_reddy_heaters_will_not_continue which explains the problem, how to fix it and where to get the parts. Let me know if you need more help.

SOURCE: I have a PRO100 Reddy Heater would not stay lit

I had the same problem. Heater was propane with a long hose for movement.

I put the heater on my garage work bench and the thermocouple tested okay.
Tried to restart and it ran like a champ. Reassembled bottom panel, retested great.
When I set it on the floor, it went out! Hmmmm.

Restarted back on the benck. Great. No good on floor....Very cold (28 F) in the garage.

Think the propane might be going liquid in the hose...when heater hose has a "drip loop"
it works fine.

Maybe this is nuts, but it works keeping the heater up a bit on a STABLE surface.

Ignitor runs continually, even when lit....is this normal?...........turn the gas on and push the gas valve and lights perfect, but no matter how long you hold it in, when you release it, it will not stay...

This sounds like a problem with your thermocouple or flame rod. If it is a flame rod you may be able to just clean it with some sandpaper or steelwool. If it is a thermocouple you will probably need to replace it.

Reddy Heater won't stay lit

You dont need a tune up kit! If you replace the units thermostat and the unit will work like new again (this is why it keeps shutting off) This is a very common problem with this model.

Won't stay lit..

I contacted ReddyParts.com and talked with their support department (866-883-9312). They instantly stated "your thermal coupler is bad". They had 1 in stock for 19.99 + shipping. I ordered it and plan to have it installed and tested by next weekend. The model I have is Reddy Heater Propane 35k to 55k (RLP55V).

Wont stay lit

Yep, sounds like you got it. Unscrew the fitting at the gas valve and take the thermocouple to a reputable Propane Gas supplier. They can match it up for you or you can order one off the internet.
