Toshiba Satellite Laptop A105 series power on button only stay on a few seconds. It was in hibernation. Got directions to remove battery and unplug, then reverse. Didn't work.

This is an old WinXP laptop computer I just wanted to get some photos from. I tried to get it online so I could transfer the photos, but it will not connect to my server. I did get it to come on once or twice earlier using as a guest on the server. Never got it online. It has bluetooth and it could discover other laptops, etc., but can't transfer. My Administrator never had a password, but now it won't work either. I cannot sign in at all, even though I set up a couple of new identities and passwords.

Option 1. Cannot boot old machine. Consider getting a USB Drive adapter and remove the hard drive from this machine, then hook to the adapter and plug it into a working computer. It should then work just like a thumb drive. Look for the documents and photos with a search function. Look for G:USERS\<NAME>\MY Documents (where G is the drive letter that is "mounted" when you plug the adapter in)

Option 2. If you can get the machine to boot, try a boot disk utility to read or change the password. Like Ultimate Boot Disk or similar.

SOURCE: removal of bios level password

Some laptops are passworded default at'oooo' or 'ooooo'. The bios re-set is the 'JBAT1' terminal, from jumpers 1-2 to 2-3 for a few seconds and then back to 1-2 again, but where the terminal is exactly on your motherboard i do not know. You may also try removing the bios didc shaped battery for 15 minutes or so, then replacing.

SOURCE: Toshiba satellite a105 s4004 cannot boot

if the recovery disk would not run to load the program than your hard drive is probably bad have you been into the machine and seen the hard drive have a look at the front where the wires plug in and there is a slot for jumpers to select the hard drive function make sure its set for master only. most hhard drives will not have a jumper for master setting if there is a jumper make sure its set right .

SOURCE: toshiba satellite pro 6100 bios reset?

The Password can be removed via the printer port
What you need is a password removal tool, It removes the Bios and start-up passwords.
It costs about £5.00. Easy to build but it costs more to put the kit together.
I think you were quite hard on the assistance.
People here are just trying to help. At least appreciate that!

Hello,
it happens sometimes you can either try to:

  • Press a key and wait for a response
  • Look and see if your laptop has like a hibernation or standby key on the keyboard
  • Have a look and see if you have a fn key and look to see if there is a power management button
  • remove the batterys and the mains hold down the power button for 30 seconds and wait a couple of minutes and connect everything back up again
However it could be something to do with your BIOS, go into your BIOS and see if there is a power management option in BIOS andplay about in power management sometimes there is a option to enable APM advanced power management if that is enabled disable it.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop that will not power up.

Get sure the memories are good. then try reseting the BIOS by removing the BIOS batery, let it out for 5 minutes and place it again. Though you have to disassembly almost the whole laptop. If dont, chek the other "pheripheral" devices, HDD, DVD, and another (If)

Toshiba satellite p105-s6217 will not power up or charge.

Larry,

  1. Unplug the laptop and remove the battery.
  2. Press the power button down and hold for 10 to 15 seconds.
  3. Press the power button 5 more times quickly.
  4. Plug the power back into the laptop without the battery and press the power button.
If the laptop powers on just put the battery back in.

Toshiba Satellite: A135-S4427 / Won't shut down

Hi,
by pressing the power button in, the computer has gone into standby or hibernate mode.
Heres what you Do:- press and hold the power button for between 10 to 20 seconds.
that should bring it out of hibernation.
if that does,nt work. remove the main battery.
when you,ve resolved the problem, run a disk-scan via your windows operating system.

Toshiba a100 laptop

Definitely try without the battery. These models are known to have a "short" problem, usually with the palm rest, which causes this failure, although it usually is more sporatic, and doesn't happen 100% of the time.
Also, can you remove all but 1 piece of memory.
Good luck, and let us know what happens.
