This is an old WinXP laptop computer I just wanted to get some photos from. I tried to get it online so I could transfer the photos, but it will not connect to my server. I did get it to come on once or twice earlier using as a guest on the server. Never got it online. It has bluetooth and it could discover other laptops, etc., but can't transfer. My Administrator never had a password, but now it won't work either. I cannot sign in at all, even though I set up a couple of new identities and passwords.
Option 1. Cannot boot old machine. Consider getting a USB Drive adapter and remove the hard drive from this machine, then hook to the adapter and plug it into a working computer. It should then work just like a thumb drive. Look for the documents and photos with a search function. Look for G:USERS\<NAME>\MY Documents (where G is the drive letter that is "mounted" when you plug the adapter in)
Option 2. If you can get the machine to boot, try a boot disk utility to read or change the password. Like Ultimate Boot Disk or similar.

Some laptops are passworded default at'oooo' or 'ooooo'. The bios re-set is the 'JBAT1' terminal, from jumpers 1-2 to 2-3 for a few seconds and then back to 1-2 again, but where the terminal is exactly on your motherboard i do not know. You may also try removing the bios didc shaped battery for 15 minutes or so, then replacing.

if the recovery disk would not run to load the program than your hard drive is probably bad have you been into the machine and seen the hard drive have a look at the front where the wires plug in and there is a slot for jumpers to select the hard drive function make sure its set for master only. most hhard drives will not have a jumper for master setting if there is a jumper make sure its set right .

The Password can be removed via the printer port
What you need is a password removal tool, It removes the Bios and start-up passwords.
It costs about £5.00. Easy to build but it costs more to put the kit together.
