SOURCE: subtitles disappear below bottom of screen

Check to see, what format the television set that widescreen etc. this may be all that's wrong with your set. If the problem persists the vertical height needs to be adjusted.  Most likely through the service menu, if units under warranty you can call Akai.  For further structures.

How do I turn off close caption.

use the remote that came with the tv not the one for your cable or satelite box. go to the menu section and you can find the subtitles box an uncheck it. it may be called subtitle or closed caption, but you will see it as you scroll through the tv menu not not menu for cable or satilite.

How do I turn the subtitles off for the yamaha HTR-5730 AV receiver? When I hook the cable up directly to the TV, there are no subtitles, but when the video output goes through the receiver, subtitles

The receiver manual may list it under "CC" (closed captions) instead of subtitles. Also, don't just check your AV receiver; try checking the setup menu on your TV, and look at the TV remote. See if there's a CC setting that may be turned on, either through the TV setup (probably under the "Display" or "Video" tab) or because you've accidentally pushed the CC (or Subtitles) button on the TV remote.

NO PICTURE, ONLY AUDIO IS AVAILABLE

Try this site. http://electronics.ebest.in/tv/akai/akai-50pw7/12/2/2717.html But 50PW7 denotes only the model number of the set. What is the part number of the damaged board? Search with part number by internet. You can get it from anywhere. Part number will be printed on the PCB itself.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Dont have a remote and can't hide the subtitles

Ms. Padilla, you need to enter the menu settings in your television, should be a menu button on you tv set. Once in menu go to picture or scroll through the menus untill you find caption, once you locate that you can turn the subtitles off.

AKAI 54" Big screen, Turn TV on picture no sound, then within a few minutes humming sound gets louder then stops and starts

Sounds like the audio amplifier circuit is bad. I do not know if where that is in that TV. If you were to hook a boom box or stereo receiver to the TV (via the audio out jacks on the TV), you could monitor the sound that way. If you get clean sound, then the problem is in the amplification circuitry. If you still get humming, etc., then the problem is further upstream.

Also, clarifying... the picture has not changed one iota, correct?

Audio Output Problem

Select DVD Input source, then press the Setup button on the remote (it's under the DVD control block near Subtitle). Go to the Speaker Setup Page and select LT/RT or Stereo. After I set it up it seems to work for other Input modes also. I have the 27" model.

Subtitle Problem: Onkyo TX-sr605

The only remote that will definitely turn the sat subtitles on/off is the sat remote. The other subtitle buttons on the other remotes refer to the DVD subtitles and the subtitles generated by the tuner in the tv. The subtitle option is greyed out on the tv because you are not on the tv tuner.
